Drones in the news

At the end of the day, it’s going to turn out to be kids flying Walmart drones with lights. The more people freak out, the more kids are going to say “want to do something cool?”
A drone 1/4 of that size costs around $20k. I doubt it's anyone just messing around.

My point was there are plenty of reasons a bad actor would want them to be seen, so that’s not a good argument against the idea. I don’t feel strongly one way or the other, could be a bunch of pranksters for all I know.
If it was a bunch of pranksters we would know about it. Our govt wouldn’t let some kids to fly drones around military institutions.

Btw, these aren’t your average Walmart drones. I have/use 3 different size drones in my business. If the description of the drones is correct, pictures I’ve seen posted seem to back it up, then these drones are 10’s of thousands of dollars. Not too many pranksters are spending that much money.

I’m betting that the drones are us government property.

Unless the pranksters started trading bitcoin years ago

So…
If the govt doesn’t know who’s/what they are, it’s probably not illegal to point a laser at them and see what happens.

The FAA gets a little grumpy when lasers are pointed at aircraft

My wife works for a defense startup, nothing to do with drones, more rockets that go boom. She and her coworkers are convinced it is DOD testing. Was a good enough explanation for me. Would prefer aliens.

There was a video making the rounds of someone shining a green laser at one and it shined green right back at him...can't recall if it was alleged to be one of the NJ drones or somewhere else.

The conspiracy theorists say it's aliens preparing us for their appearance...that right now they're using cloaking technologies to look like something familiar to us to get people talking about the things in the sky and get everyone looking up.

I say bring it on spaceman.

I think the government either has to be behind it, or okay with whoever or whatever is doing what they're doing. There's no way that if we were truly concerned, clueless, helpless, and unable to intervene that we would be publicizing it to the world so much.

Haha, yeah, we sure haven’t projected that image of ourselves to the world anytime recently.

Im just waiting for some Boomer who finished off a few beers after dinner stepping outside with the ol' 270 to put an end to this mystery lol

I think that starts out with "hold my beer".

Don't everybody go shooting at once...gotta take turns or we will never know who hit it.

If they were over the south they would already be shot down and this mystery would be over.
