Does anyone shop at Cabela's anymore? I don't anymore........selection

I quit shopping at Cabelas after they were bought out by BPS.
The Cabelas brand used to make quality outerwear. Now, after BPS, it's all junk. Pretty sad really. I struggle to find quality outerwear now.

I still have a Cabelas cc that I build my points up for purchasing guns or sometimes scopes. I usually order the items online and have them shipped to my local store as it’s rare my store has the item in stock. The online selection is still pretty solid for firearms, you just have to check in occasionally because things can come and go quickly.
But I agree, Cabelas is no longer the same. They had nice outerwear back in the day but I think Sitka, KUIU, FL, etc killed that as much as BPS did buying them. BPS probably acknowledged the fact that many guys preferred the “premium outerwear” while they could still sell their line to the weekend gun hunters.

The cc points keep me coming back too. Especially since they started selling suppressors thru silencer central.

Like others I still have a CC but haven’t been in a physical store in a while. I tend to use my points to buy some broadheads about once a year

I find good deals at Cabela’s pretty often.

I trashed the card several years ago and went with pure points to cash. I can use those $$ anywhere and earn more points per dollar as well. I have one 1.5 miles from the house and a BP 60 miles down the road. and only use it when I need something quick or there is a good sale. Prices have gone up and quality is going down. It is sad when I'd prefer to order quality on line, wait for it and hope it fits. Planning for an elk hunt, drew Kentucky rifle bull tag, and have bought nothing from the store. Every purchase has been online or local stores

took the kids to see the fish tank at the BPS in Manteca, CA yesterday. Moved the sturgeon, carp and catfish into the trout pond, only very sickly looking LMB in the big tank. First time in 5 years we've ever gone there and left without spending a dime.

We have a small Cabelas. I had a bunch of gift cards and went in to use them. Ended up wandering for 30 minutes without really finding much. Just got a notice since I havent used my account in 2 years I am going to lose my points. Guess I'll go stock up on .17 ammo or fishing gear

Went in to the local store to get some primers for the muzzleloader, they always have the Federal 209A shotshell primers in stock for $8 and change. I shopped for a month online trying to find them in stock last year and found them at the store even though they showed out of stock online so went back yesterday and sure enough they still have them. I'm too cheap to buy anything else though, all the stuff I'd buy I can get cheaper online or at Academy.

While I was visiting in Ohio recently, I was helping a buddy get a flintlock pistol he found working. Basspro's selection of muzzleloading stuff was pathetic. No flints whatsoever, and no plain lead roundball ammo. Only expensive hunting bullets. Fortunately a more local chain had what we needed.

I have a cabelas <10 miles from my house and almost never go. Only thing they're good for now is cheap offshore fishing rods and very rarely a good deal on a new old stock rifle, but that isnt common anymore.

They had a ton of steyr scouts on sale for $700 a couple years ago, wish I had nabbed one of those.

I have a hard time justifying spending money there after they gutted their Sidney NE office, they really screwed that place and a lot of families had to move or sell their houses. Cabelas is a shell of its former self and I'll spend my money elsewhere

When I was a kid it was some of the best memories going to the shooting gallery and observation mountain now I mostly go just to show my boys the mounts

Apparently lots of people are still shopping at Bass Pro. They seem to be on a pretty aggressive expansion with new and larger stores.

While I still mourn the old Cabellas, Bass Pro is still a signifiant plus for the hunting and shooting community and I try to support them if at all possible

I don't have any other decent store in the area. The closest Scheels is 2 hours away.

Maybe 20 years ago or so it was like an event. My old man and i would drive the 45 minutes, spend and hour or two there, look at the mounts, get lunch, head home with our goodies.

Last 10 years or so it’s really slid downhill. My son and i went there about 3 years ago outta my nostalgia before the WI Rifle opener. Years back the place was covered up in blaze orange this and that. That year there was a single small rack of blaze orange vests and jackets tucked away amongst the Eddie Bauer, Patagonia, and Under Armour hippie urban outdoorsy wannabe clothes.

It’s nothing more than an REI with game mounts in it anymore. I haven’t been back since that day and i’m not sure i will. It’s a shell of what it once was. Given in to chasing urbanite liberals who blow money on $300 quarter zips to “hike” in city parks like all the rest.

Seams like the last time I went in, the store was about 85% BPS branded clothes and bbq sauce/seasonings.
