I spend very little time with people who don't think like me. When
i am around people not from the same culture as me the subject rarely comes up.
Same with the subject of hunting. Some people don't get it and never will.
I don't rub it in other peoples nose and I don't expect them to rub it in mine.
I don't go looking for a fight any longer. I did that for 40 years and I wonder if I even changed one
single mind.

Aren't you required to tell an officer (during a traffic stop) when there's a firearm in the vehicle? I've had officers tell me that by law I was required to inform them. Maybe on a state by state basis?

State by State, here in Colorado there is no requirement to inform.

I was just curious how many of you might openly discuss firearms-related topics. Are you more discreet around certain people or in public?
Are you more open with other gun buddies than with people you don't know? How does our surrounding culture determine how we talk about our most precious right and hobby?
Folks have the right to call and report you as a threat, that you own guns. Called red flag. They dont need proof, just fear.

The less anyone knows, the better. We had a horrible flood. Lost all kinds of stuff..,

I’m certainly willing to discuss forearms openly. I don’t force conversations about them to people who aren’t interested.

Interestingly, the company I work for has some major forearm clients, though only 2 of us are remotely interested in the subject matter and I’m quite sure our board of trustees wouldn’t be comfortable if they knew some of our clients were in that industry. I’m sure they like the $, though.

I live in Wyoming. Everyone talks about guns all the time. Completely normal part of every day life.

When I lived in NY, I didn't tell anyone I owned a gun.

Not at work. I work for a conservative corporation but have liberal clients and very liberal coworkers, primarily womenfolk. Guns are a subject they are not interested in nor well-versed in nor want to be. It makes it easy to follow the rule of keeping your private life private.
Other verboten subjects: politics, religion, your monthly cycle. Stay the hell out of my office.

Agree to a point.

Seems like there are some people you can talk to about them, others you don't.

Stuff we already do, just a slightly more sensitive topic than when I was a teen with a shotgun in the back of my pickup for hunting before an after school. Was showing off some geese to my shop teacher when he freaked that I actually had a gun. That was one of my first encounters w anti-gun folks and it was a friend. And no he didn't cause any trouble. Now we have folks getting excited and offended over what T-shirts say these days - like it means something.

I open carry on a regular basis and the topic of firearms usually comes up but not every day
It really doesnt matter to me if its in public or private or on the phone
Unless youre doing something illegal why would you talk in whispers or try to hide your conversation pertaining to firearms
If your afraid of hurting feelings or offending someone then welcome to the new age where feelings are worn on shirtsleeves and everyone is looking to be offended
I dare to exercise my 2A and 1A rights regardless of feelings or offenses
