45 miles of dirt roads before I hit pavement April-October so the outside is a mess and the inside is too from keeping my hunting and fishing crap in it. It’s always a wait and see game when I’m painting boundaries or marking timber in the fall and winter. Haven’t painted the outside of my truck yet but the back and the seat covers look like a kindergarten classroom after art time is over 😂

I have owned my rig more years than I have washed it. At best I have a guy wash and wax it every summer.

Nope. I consider cleaning a vehicle to be a waste of time and effort and car washes as a waste of money.

I purchase vehicles as a way to get from point A to B and drive them into the ground so there is little to no resale value left once I’m done with them. I clean it out twice a year - before and after hunting season.

In my adult life I’ve paid for ONE car wash - and that was a rental vehicle that I used on a scouting trip in AZ that shook due to the underbody and wheels being caked with mud. I didn’t want to return it in that condition to the rental place since I was technically on a work trip! LOL.

I try and keep the clutter to a minimum, but that doesn’t always work. I’ll wash the exterior and wipe down the seats a couple times a year. I had to get a smog a few weeks ago and had just cleaned it the day before. The tech was amazed that it has over half a million miles and looked so clean haha

Yes - I keep my truck clean, but i'm not anal retentive. I think there is the "take the trash out, vacuum, and wash it on occasion' type, and then the "drop it off at the detailer" type. Have good friends who are the latter (twice a year). What I dont understand is those who abuse their trucks under the guise of 'using' it.

No, and I wouldn't be friends with someone that had a clean car.

I have a friend that is a retired Army helicopter pilot Major, and another one that is a retired Army helicopter pilot CWO4. We all work together.

One guy has an immaculate truck, kids at home spends a lot of time working on it. He is kind of a pain in the ass in life.

The other guy has no kids and is a slob.

Love both of them to death, but I'd rather hang out with the slob.

I am not a slob, but damn I have 3 kids at home and my wife doesn't ever clean out her vehicle or wash it. Lucky if she fills up the gas tank.

I have kids, I could clean it everyday and it would still be messy inside. I clean the inside as it needs it but mostly to get the cheerios and other crumbs out so it doesn’t smell, I don’t get to crazy though. In the nicer months I was the outside a bit more often but once fall hits, it’s usually dirty until the spring.

Nope, I've washed my pickup a handful of times. No garbage in it and I change the oil like clockwork but washing it is a waste of time and money.

I park in my shop, so all the trash comes out of the truck every time I come home, or buy fuel. Whichever comes first.

Washed at least once a week. Windows cleaned a little more.

Dash wiped down and floors vaccumed about once a week, unless they get dirty before.

Do you stay on top of it?
Exactly my routine! I also hand wax mine every 6 months. I keep my wife's vehicle washed and interior cleaned just like mine. I have one son that cleans his about every week and one that does it maybe once a year!

I'm glad I'm not the only one!

Try to keep things from getting too cluttered and dump trash every gas station stop.

Windshield gets hosed by the jets coming out of the hood and wiped off by the wipers very frequently.

I might wash and vacuum the once a year in late spring after turkey season.

My wife's car looks like a box of cheerios and goldfish exploded in the backseat most of the time. Plus all the stickers, books, and toys that litter the floorboards.

I sold a guy a work my old 4runner I used hunting and off roading for about 5 years and never cleaned. Next time I saw him at work he said it cust him dang near $30 to wash and vacuum it at the car wash lol. I just shrugged and said why bother, it's a hunting rig.

Mine got washed in August after driving to Deadhorse and back. Prior to that it was washed in September I think. So, about twice a year. I clean the trash more often, but rarely vacuum.

I have better things to do, like post on Rokslide.....

I’m not as anal as I used to be. I used to completely detail my last truck every 2 weeks. My truck now, I go through the auto car wash once a week or so. Vacuum every other time or so when I go through the car wash. I need to detail it though. That’ll probably happen after hunting season. Being on job sites all the time and having kids it doesn’t get the cleaning treatment it should.

I bought a truck as close to the color of road dirt as I could find. 21 years old and the rain here is the only thing that washes it. I pressure washed it one time up in the road after a gumbo-laden trip to Montana, I think that's the only time I "washed" it. I like it when the women-folk don't like the smell inside too. It smells like hunting to me.

There's yogurt on the headliner. Rocks, sea shells, sand, yea lots of sand. Wife's undies stuffed in the passenger door, dog nose prints on the rear glass, nails, screws, tools, a beer can or two. Dents, dings, stories and 160k miles. It's a great truck.

I was starting to think I was the only one here!

Wife wants to watch a movie I don't care about?

There's a slightly dirty truck in the climate controlled shop with a fridge full of beer, and whiskey on the shelf.

And I work it hard. Pull trailers, drive off road, use the winch to move trees, my truck, other trucks...

I vacuum when I'm near the shop and it's convenient. Don't let trash and lumber yard receipts build up. I had to rent a power washer last year to paint a house. The only bath my truck ever had.

Yep, I clean it in the late winter when hunting is over and fill it with fishing gear. And then late fall when fishing dies down and hunting is in full swing it gets cleaned and gear swapped again. October is a messy month, to many things are active. Freshwater, stripers, deer, duck, bear... so much to do, so little time.
