100% I believe in ghosts. I had a few strange encounters between two homes in high school, as I got older they got worse.

My CD player would turn on and play while unplugged, voices whispering by my head at night, foot steps in the attic, I poked my head up there one day and could see footprints, I felt hands on me, all sorts or scary stuff.

I used to tell my folks about all this and of course I’m just a teenager making things up. About 7-8 years ago my dad calls me and brings up the encounters I had, he had been having worse encounters. He could feel hands pushing him, poking him, voices whispering. They had their house smudged and everything seemed fine until it burned down.

When I was younger I was really into the paranormal, even using oujia boards and doing haunted house tours.

I told the wife about the thread and basically got her permission to share from her time working hospice. When she was there she was finishing degrees but had been working as an LPN/RN for a few years so nursing/death/nightshift was nothing new for her. She's well educated and very matter of fact - It's pretty out of character to hear her talk about this stuff but here goes....

1. During a meeting/rounds the nurse that was giving report was hit in the back of the head by a book that "flew" off a bookshelf. She said this was a deep shelf and there's no way the book just fell off. Even if it had fallen - there was no way it would have hit the nurse. It had to have "flown forward" to hit her where she was at. To her knowledge this was the only "negative experience" that happened there. She said all staff saw this and nobody was able to come up with an explanation.

2. (From my understanding the facility is shaped like a T with the nurse station being at the intersection. Patient was at the end of the vertical hallway of the T) One night her and her coworker saw a patient come out of her room and was walking down the hallway towards them at the nurse station. They had to get up from the nurse station and go around it to get to the hallway directly in front of them. She said from the side of the nurse station, there's a few feet where you aren't able to see down that hallway due to the wall corner blocking the view. When they came around the corner the patient was no longer in the hallway. They walked to the end of the hallway trying to figure out how she made it back to her room so quickly (supposedly a bedridden patient). When they got to her room they found the patient was in bed stone cold dead. I asked if she thought it was a ghost. Her reply was, "I don't know. But, we both saw her come out and walking down the hallway. If we wouldn't have seen her, we wouldn't have walked down there specifically to check on her. She had obviously been dead for quite awhile".

3. This one actually happened at our house. I was upstairs, she was downstairs putting laundry in. She let out a scream and a bunch of names and curse words - directed at me. I came down the stairs flipped the lights on and went into the laundry room. I flipped the lights on again fully expecting to kill someone. Wife was very visibly upset (I've only seen her upset 3 times including this). I asked what the .... is going on? She tore out of the laundry room and went upstairs. I followed her up and kept asking what the .... is going on? She went on a rant about this shhhh had been going on all week at work - she was sick of it - it wasn't OK that this was happening at home blah blah blah. Again I ask/demand to know what's going on. She said she was in the laundry room and someone blew on the back of her neck hard enough that her hair come around the front of her neck and into her face - at the same time all the lights went out. She thought it was me messing with her until she heard me come downstairs. She is still convinced that a patient of hers that had passed earlier in the week was following/harassing her. She said this is the only time she's ever really felt being "followed".

She took a different job (she's a specialty nurse now) and hasn't had anything strange happen since leaving there probably 5 years ago.

I asked her if she thought this stuff could've been imagination working at a place like that. She actually put her phone down and very definitively said, "NO. There's no amount of money they could pay me to ever work another night shift at that place".

I was working a night shift and just had came out of a patients room. As I was standing in the door way with my back turned to them charting I heard a loud noise. When I turned around the clock had flew off the wall and landed on the patient. The clock had to fly about 4 steps to the bed so there was no way it could have bounced on anything. They ended up dying the next day. That one there really freaked me out.

Don't believe in ghosts but work in an ICU and have had an unusually high number of patients tell me there is a man in their room with a big black hat on and they want him to leave. Everyone that has seen this man in the black hat has died within 24 hours.

Well, I was having a good day.

Now I'm gonna be walking around, freaking tf out, thinking I'm gonna see The Undertaker out in public somewhere. My wife is going to look at me awfully funny when I high tail it out of the store because I see some dude wearing a black Stetson on the same isle as us.

After about the 3rd time I started asking them questions about the guy. They all described him the same way and described the same type hat. Pasty, frail man, tall and slender. The hat was a black top hat similar to Abraham Lincolns.

So unfortunately, I lost my wife to cancer. She passed away peacefully in our home with me, her sister, mother and best friend with her. Two days later, two christmas ornaments fell off the tree and rolled across the floor. I was in the other room and blamed the cat. Her sister said that cats were both upstairs. The next day, I lost a circuit in the house. The breaker wouldn't reset, so I replaced it. Still no go. So I tracked down all the outlets and fixtures that were off and finally found the outlet in the living room where the ground had somehow come *detached* from the screw and was causing a fault. Fixed that. The next day, the internet just shuts down in the middle of streaming a movie that we would watch together during christmas. I've had that router for 7-8 years and we've never had an issue. Fixed that too. That was it ... nothing else.

I'm a trained scientist. I work with observations and physical laws. Matter is consists of energy and energy can neither be created or destroyed in nature. I never really believed much in spiritual activities, but after that, I do think that at death there is a release of energy that takes time to dissipate. How long and how that energy manifests itself is different for every living thing.

Damn.

I was totally about to be cool with prospects of The Undertaker busting through the wall to escort me out of the living world like so....

I guess Honest Abe isn't a bad consolation prize. Humor aside, that is some creepy sh**. I know that'll make the hair on the back of your neck stand up. When my grandmother died she never talked about a man in a hat but did talk about seeing her family members who died before her.

A house we lived in for about 10 years ago had a histor, that we found out after moving in. It did bother me but quickly got over it, until strange things started happening. Most all of them I blamed on my imagination, having no proof of anything and most having a logical explanation that could cause them.

The one thing that I saw that I could not come up with any logical reasoning was......

In our bedroom was a dimming light switch, it was a toggle that all the way down was off, and had a pretty decent detent to the off position. Moved up out of the off position the toggle would light up dim (corresponding to the brightness of the light fixture on the ceiling) and would increase in brightness along with the room light until you had it moved all the way into the brightest (all the way up) position.

So just after getting into bed one night I notice the toggle jump from the off position into the dimmest position. My initial thought was that I didnt quite get the toggle all the way past the detent and it just clicked over into the lowest on position...............but then it started moving slowly all the way into the all the way up position with the lights following. I played with that light switch for years trying to get it to do that again......never happened

Ratbeetle... might be worth tracking down the couple that sold it and asking what they experienced
That's what I was thinking too! I'm thinking that I would have a call in to my realtor asking "What else is for sale?"

As I stated earlier in the thread I don't believe in ghosts or the likes and this is MY thought process. These "ghosts" would have to be someone's loved ones in past history and I refuse to accept that the Good Lord accidently forgot my grandma on earth and allowing her to hangout in my kitchen or other parts of a house from the hours of 2200-0600.
I believe in good and evil but won't except "forgotten/escaped/rogue" deceased family members.
Probably explains why I haven't seen anything that I would deem a "ghost".

House I lived in after college in Arlington, VA I was living in the attic and the ceiling was about 2 inches too short for me to fully stand up. Strange, slighlty claustrophbic place to begin with.

I kept having these dreams, regularly, like 2-3 times a week like I was being held down, couldn't move, couldn't talk, paralysis essentially. Something about it never quite felt like a dream, it seemed real in a strange way. I've had a lot of the typical nightmares, but this was different.

After about 6 months of this I find out from the neighbor that a couple years back a previous tenant died in that room. Cool. So now my mind goes to my weird dreams. Yuppie area so I assume OD or suicide. I didn't ask questions, didn't want to know the answer. Lived there about another month, those experiences continued. Never happened again after I moved out.

That was my weird experience and still not sure what to think.

Good buddy of mine insists his property is haunted, it was a known site of a skirmish in the French-Indian War. I've heard some credible stories but haven't seen anything myself there. I don't want to believe but have heard too much. And it ain't like bigfoot people, talking normal rarional folks.

I don't believe in ghosts.

My better half and her mother both are ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN that they exist and have had multiple encounters with them. I have a few friends who have claimed they've seen or lived in places haunted by ghosts.

Oddly enough every time I've entered any of these haunted homes, no one has ever had a ghost encounter again. The better half lived in a house she was CONVINCED was haunted (multiple of her friends and mother confirmed 2spooky4me experiences) for 3 years before we dated, I entered the house for the first time and she never had another encounter for her last 18 months there.

Maybe I haunt ghosts...either way, haven't seen one, don't believe in them.

The house I previously mentioned also caught fire after we left. Though, I don't think it burned down. We had foot steps in the attic, brothers were all having night terrors, scratching on walls, etc. My dad slept with a baseball bat after the foot steps in the attic started. And he's not a sissy. Big redneck worked in mines his whole life. If I remember right, the house was once a governors mansion, but his daughter fell down the winding stairs and died. After that it was a nursing home. A lot of death in that house. My dad got it as a fixer upper because it was kind of run down. He never finished it though. Sold it and got the heck out. My room was in the servants area of the house. Hallways were really narrow over there and the rooms were smaller. Place was just scary.

I'm not trying to scare you but this is not something you should take lightly. There is no such things as "friendly ghost" I've seen some very strange things happen when I was younger in my home. Nothing ever really happened until my Dad was addicted to pain pills and started suffering from severe depression and my mom started going outside of their marriage with another married man. My sister and I both saw things around this time. 1. She was SnapChatting a friend one day and took a selfie and had a picture of what she described as a "devil looking thing" in the background. She is not the type to make things up or lie either and was terrified.
2. I was in the shower once and when I got out the sink was on full blast. No one was home and I know I did not turn the faucet on.
3. Saw a shadow in my room of someone walking
4. Heard someone running up to my front door and then it swung open and nobody was there.
All these happened within about a month or two. I honestly believe that these were dark spirits that were in our house. Maybe things that were let in from all the sinful behavior that suddenly emerged from my parents. Don't know. But I told someone at work and he told me to pray over the house and ask GOD to remove and darkness from the home and that is what I did. I prayed very hard numerous times a day and suddenly no more "Supernatural things" occurred.

Ghosts are in the same category of Bigfoot, Loch Ness Monster, beings from space, Leprechauns, etc.

You absolutely can not prove they do NOT exist. It also hasn't been proven they do.

So, people believe what they want to believe. I do not in any way believe in ghosts. I believe some people truly do. Like with Bigfoot, LN Monster, space visitors, and Leprechauns.

I am honestly shocked at the responses. I figured maybe 10 out of 100 would say they are believers. I think ghosts are about as common as bigfoot. I do like to believe my dad , grandma, and other close relatives are still watching over me but not as ghosts. No proof as I have never seen, heard, or sensed they are around.

Yes. I don’t seem to be very observant myself but my wife and kids are. Our oldest should have had a couple bad falls as a toddler but some force pulls her back just enough to not snap her neck against the wall or hard furniture. Both kids have said they have seen someone or something at various times.

The strangest time was when we had a shooting outside our house. Our daughter’s room had the light turned on three times. The next day we found where three rounds hit the 4x4 porch post outside her window. The trajectory didn’t add up unless there was another shooter. We pretty sure this was a guardian angle letting us know that it was there.

About twenty years ago I was waiting for a green light to turn left. I had to yield to a couple guys on bicycles. We had that awkward moment of locking eyes but they both had an ominous presence that gave me chills. It was as if they were possessed but I was not supposed to see that and their ghost or demon or whatever was shocked that I saw it.

Someone mentioned Riverdale road up in Adam’s county co, I grew up a little away from there down in Lakewood and WheatRidge and we heard many stories from along that stretch.

Were they wearing Lycra? If so they may have just been possessed by their own self righteousness. 😉
