I am looking for the pant that does not exist!

I am in pants 90% of the time. Even in summer. Between work around the house and training versatile breeds (primarily GSPs for NAVHDA, AKC and HRC), in the filed and in/around water, shorts just do not cut it. Ideally, I'd have a pant that is light weight, breaths, dries extremely quickly and was extremely thorn resistant.

Currently in my arsenal, I have pants from; Orvis, Sitka, Kuiu and Kuhl.

In my opinion, Orvis has gone down the toilet the last 3-4 years. Sitka makes some nice pants, but for me, they are all way to heavy (talking for 70-90 degrees). Kuhl, I have some Revolvr's which I like but are still too heavy (I'm looking at trying out the Renegades and/or the Resistor Air). Of all the pants, the ones that do the best job for me are the Kuiu Kutanas. The Kutanas are probably the best pant I've worn. However, Kuiu as we all know, has a new owner as of December. Not sure how I feel about that. That being said, the Kuiu flannels are my all time favorite flannel (better for me than Orvis, Filson, Kuhl, etc.) and I like a lot of their other pieces.

For those who have run pants from these manufactuers, what do you all like for my intended uses? Does Kuhl have anything that compares?

Appreciate your comments and thanks!

Kutanas are great (light, tough and hip vents) for me down to about 40 or 45 degrees before i start looking for something a little warmer.

As long as the quality stays the same going forward, i'm not as concerned about new owners at Kuiu for the best pieces they make (for me).

Curious to hear others' experiences with other brands.

Lightweight, breathable and thorn resistant describes my environment in south Texas. I wear solid color(olive) trail pants from Mountain Hardware, Mountain Khakis or Pgucci. As I am not concerned about noise I look for nylon rather than polyester for durability. Both dry equally well for me although I am aware of lab studies that show poly holds less water than nylon. The poly pants I own seem warmer than the nylon unless you get to wading or flats pants from Simms or Pgucci which are so thin as to add no thorn protection. Pants with reinforced front panels are out due to the heat issue. When its in the 90s, I wear nylon trail shorts with knee high snake boots and am cooler than long pants and shorter boots. Have maybe 3” gap and can move through thornbrush without bleeding.

Sitka ascent are great hot weather pants, but not thorn resistant.

I don't think you're going to find a pant that is nice at 90° and thorn resistant.

I used to wear some pants from arborwear that were quite comfortable in the heat and very durable. I can't recall the model.

Having "feelings" about who owns a brand is something I can't relate to. Do you know anything about the ownership of Kuhl? Does it affect their products?

Was in the Fist light store the other day, looking through their pants. The 308 pant really stood out very comfortable

I like my preacher pants. Went back them after trying a bunch of stuff. Only knock I have is they stain easier than the comparable Kuiu attack pants.
Preachers were the ones I was thinking of too. One of the few pants with ample pockets, knee pads, and vents. Wish they were just a touch lighter, but I even use them for backpacking and fly fishing in the summer.

Kuiu attack has been my favorite so far. The Wrangler ATGs keep falling apart. I shredded my first lite obsidian's on my first hunt.

They aren’t carried by stores around me to know for sure but they have a couple new ones on their website that might be just that
