Kicking around building another rifle in 6mm, 6.5cm or 6.5prc. DIY - I’m no smith but no slouch with tooling and details. Shooting more and want to have another bolt gun for practice and hunting.
Is there a best practices prefit route to go? Is it better to do chassis and not bed or carbon stock and bedding? Looking at some of the Stocky options, MDT chassis as well as Manners and McMillian. leaning towards the traditional stock to better mirror what I hunt with.
It seems to be shaking out to about $3k in components with: Proof Prefit 22”, Terminus action (I’m a lefty so limited), trigger tech trigger - wide range of stock options and prices. The Stocky barrel and stock options are intriguing….if there are similar “kits” please let me know.
Adding the cost of components it makes some built rifle options seem very well priced - but doing this for the experience of it too.
