Anyone make their own scissor blind? Was wanting to make one for my 12 foot deep v but am having an issue figuring out how to make it pivot and lock. I would also like to be able to leave it on the boat during season for quick morning setup. Any help would be appreciated

Head over to duckhuntingchat.com forum of you havent been there yet. There were some good DIY threads there.

Easy answer for locking it up is to raise it, drill through where the tubes cross (at the X) and install a quick release pin to shove in the whole to lock each side. Tough part is finding a way to anchor it to the rails...YouTube is your friend for this as well.

Not sure if that's the answer you were looking for, but hope that helps get the ideas flowing.

I tired of finding 4 holes in the dark to line up quick release pins.
Cut your backing material so when blind is up it is tight. I.e. can’t pull it any further. Even width at top just wide enough you can stand up. Have 2 bungee cords, bow and stern. Make them permanent on one side. Raise /hook. Unhook, and sides drop natural.
Deep V boats suck for scissor blinds. Way to much beam width and curve going to the bow.

My plan was to just make it rectangular and just let it over hang the v nose, my thoughts were it would give the person up front a little bit of elbow room while waiting.

Me and a buddy made one out of EMT conduit and burlap then got a bunch of grass and brushes it in. We bent the conduit to fit the boat then mounted it to the boat with a few EMT connectors we pick up at Lowe's. It was really simple and got the job done for a good price

Any chance you can send me pictures of the mount? I was planning on welding connectors to a c clamp and then clamping it that way.

If your boat has a rail you can cut plates that fit in the rail tap a hole in it and bolt it to those. That way you don't have to put holes in you bolt
