I agree with the OP. Your dumping 600 in s new pack its not too much to ask for a belt that matches the pack.
If you were buying used and saving money mixing and matching then it is what it is. But paying a premium for new its not an unreasonable expectation

Some here may be surprised what it really means to a small/midsize company to add items such as multiple colors for the same item. The cost in extra raw materials and finished goods inventory can be quite substantial.

Additionally it can become a branding decision. When you see someone with that pack color you can be quite sure they are running a stone glacier. The grey color becomes part of the brand itself.

At the end of the day as a company you cannot please everyone all of the time. They may have decided to use the resources that would be committed to colors and inventory in other areas.

I see no correlation between having a desire to hunt and this topic. There could be, but overall it's irrelevant. I'll go as hard as anyone.

This wasn't even a full day and I only packed food for half a day.

Physical exertion is easy, mental toughness is difficult. My point is, there is mental toughness and general attitude that all very successful guys seem to have in common. Not finding animals, cold, hungry, windy, raining, generally miserable. I've never met anybody that endures all that, that cares if their pack is color coordinated or not. Just an observation, if it offends you, look inward. As for the musicians, yeah they're entertainers and probably drama queens?

Not directed at the OP specifically but these pack color threads and similar ones about clothes often have me wondering. How can a guy who cares about such things be a successful backcountry hunter? Personal experience and anyone I know who's successful has a serious mental case of the F it's I'm just going to do whatever it takes.

I could actually see this going the other way. An obsession about having things “just right” might be an indicator of someone that is intense about preparation. If that carries over to every aspect of the hunt, it would likely help them be a good hunter. I think the ability to cope with deviations to the plan can be mutually exclusive, so someone can be obsessive about planning AND great at improvising when the sh!t hits the fan.

For the record, I’m not particularly good at planning or hunting. I AM good at forming amateur psychological theories in an effort to procrastinate at the office.

This is the funniest shit I've seen today. Guy comes on with a concern/complaint and gets slammed for it. Those slamming are touting themselves as hardcore because they don't care about color. One guy even claimed that, essentially, any company who offers matched and/or various colors is inferior. Someone else claimed that if someone cares about color, they lack mental toughness.

Y'all crack me up. I hope your seasons open soon.

Why don't you tell Zakk Wylde that his guitar colors don't matter - color doesn't make it sound any better or make you play better!! Stop being a skirt Zakk!!

Dimebag Darrell, Kirk Hammett, Dave Mustaine...... all a bunch of primadonnas using colored guitars!

This is a ridiculous comparison, you think those guys a buying off the shelf guitars?! They are custom made and I'm sure if your willing to shell out that kind of money you could get a pack in whatever color you wanted.

Pretty much hit the nail on the head in regards to my personality when it comes to planning for things.

First off, you're missing my whole point, but I'll bite anyway...

I know for a fact that a lot of musicians use off the shelf guitars. You say that's shelling out a ton of money for a guitar.... were talking about a BACKPACK that costs in excess of $700 after you buy all the doodads to go along with it. If that relatively speaking isn't a ton of money for a backpack, I'm not sure what to tell you. I don't know of any that cost more. SG is one of the premier backpack makers, professional musicians (mostly) use premier guitars. Fair comparison.

If you are right and it is not a fair comparison, here are a bunch of guitars that are cheaper than the backpack in colors a plenty.

You can save your attempt at educating me on high end packs...Ive owned 2 SG bagsa and frames and 3 Kifaru frames and 4 different bags as well as numerous accessories for both so I have a pretty good idea what they cost. Bottomline...if they dont have what you wont go bbn uy something else and quit bitching about it, Im sure SG will survive without your business

Be careful what you post and ask around here about colors! The backpack gods and prophets will soon be chiming in with their sarcastic remarks.

Ya know... the other day I climbed to the top of the mountain for sunrise. I sat there waiting eagerly in anticipation to see what it would look like. The sun broke over the enormous mountains and it was breathtaking. Everything was grey.

And then you looked up and whined to God..... The end

Anyone who buys their wife a coyote brown pack for elk season should come under serious suspicion.
I would encourage her to stick with any of the fifty shades of gray.

I can relate to the OP I wrote a long winded email to firstlite because they only made their merino boxers in black. I was pissed I had to pay 45$ for a pair of merino boxers and no other color option.

Completely unacceptable 🤣

All joking aside this forum can definitely be rough at times but it’s all in good fun.

For the OP think about the name “stone Glacier and the lack of color options. As someone else stated the brand of SG and the lack of pack colors are a part of their brand. They wanted the color to be associated to the name of the company.

Hope you find whatever pack you want in any color your heart desires.

Cheers!!
