Discontinued Products you wish were still available

Leupold custom shop, will forever be pissed as myself for trading off one of the customs I ordered.

Barrett Field craft 223 even though it never made it to production.

Late 90's Toyotas. Bring them back with side airbags added and call it a day.

Uncle Mike's padded slings. I just liked them.

I just drove to Murdoch's here in Colorado and bought what I believe to be the very last of my favorite hat anywhere in the country other than a lucky eBay find some day. (I lost mine a year ago in a big windstorm.) It's a Stetson, but an insanely cheap $30 waxed cotton boonie hat they made for a few years and, to my knowledge, only Murdoch's ever carried. Murdoch's has like 30 locations in the West but since it was discontinued a few years ago, all of them are now out of stock except one location an hour away from me. I had to hunt through the store for an hour to ultimately find it on a mannequin as a decorative item.

I'm not a big fan of hats in the first place and this is one of the few I've ever worn comfortably both generally and while hunting. Really glad to have it again. I would buy 3 more if I could.

But... this last one is mine now. I win.

Edit: Looks like they update their Web site inventory better than other merchants. It's now official. Y'all can suck it.

When mountain dew came out with voltage originally. They had two other flavors in a "battle" and you had to vote which flavor stayed. I didn't care for the black flavor ,but the pink one was really good and I miss the taste of it

So….I had a camo beanie made by Under Armour that was micro fleece with a silky smooth spandex type of liner on the inside. This made it so you could layer it under another hat without ever feeling a burning hot spot sensation from your hair getting all mashed in one spot. I used to play football (long before owning this beanie), and honestly, this would’ve been great for cold weather games. It was tight and low profile enough to be worn under a football helmet if need be.

It also fit my dome perfectly (maybe because I just wore it so much). It wasn’t one of those “not nearly deep enough” types of beanies that feels like it was made for a child- I didn’t have to keep yanking it down to cover my ears, but it also didn’t cover any part of my eyes at full deployment either. It was thin enough to fit comfortably inside a hard hat during a cold day at work, and still warm enough that I rarely needed any additional hat to stay warm.

I believe I have lost it for good now, and all the current products are shaped much differently, made of a thicker fleece material, none have the nice spandex liner material on the inside. They are always either so loose that they allow a draft around my ears, or so small that I feel like I’m wearing one of those stupid rainbow skull cap thingy’s from the movie UP with the little propeller on the top.

JUST wondering…
A) if anyone knows of a comparable product to replace my beloved UA beanie as described above
…and
B) What is your most-missed discontinued hunting/outdoor product that you wish was still available?
What made it so much better than the current alternatives?
Sitka hanger gloves. Best ever glove.

The original Rocket Sidewinder mech broadheads. Found a small batch of new ones on ebay a couple of years ago and bought them all.

I had to look it up and I don’t wish they still made it. The comments about the climbing stands made me remember it. It was the TRC climbing stand kit, my dad and I bought two of these death traps in the 80’s. It came with the hardware and you cut out the plywood. I never fell out of mine and good thing cause we didn’t use safety equipment then. They didn’t have a seat, we would just stand for a bit then slid down and sit on the platform for a while. When it was time to get down you had to stand back. You had to sling the thing over your shoulder to carry it and the metal bands would catch on brush and spring back making the worst racket. Mine has since grown into a hedge tree back in the 90s at dads place.

I wish I could still buy a few Punchcutter broadheads so I could drop a picture of them every time I see someone arguing that you aren't a real hunter if you aren't shooting fixed blade single bevel broadheads sold for $40 each by hipsters that make them carbon neutral by having them hand forged in a wood-fired blacksmith's shop from ethically sourced recycled pre-WWII steel ship hulls. Or whatever the current hotness is.

ETA: And yes, I killed deer with them. Wouldn't go back, but that experience does give one a perspective some of the younger generation seems to lack.

Also - Peak to Peak hip quivers.
