Buys a buck tag and 4 doe tags here in PA. If you archery hunt it only gets you a buck and 2 doe tags.

No kidding... so rifle tags are cheaper in pa than archery?

1 out of 25 in NM, daughter got a youth off range oryx, her second.
1 out of 6 in CO, I picked up a Rocky Bighorn Ram archery tag. First year in the draw, lol.

Got 1 out of 36 in my house and that tag was filled already on 4/15. A youth turkey draw tag. It’s been 25 years since I’ve had a deer tag in NM. I’ve given up on deer here and actually deleted that application before the draw.

No kidding... so rifle tags are cheaper in pa than archery?

The tags are universal and the buck tag comes with your $20.97 resident license. However they charge $17 for an archery stamp and doe tags are $6.97 each.

So if you only have $50 that extra $17 costs you two doe tags.

My license normally runs around $135 and that covers pretty much everything you could hunt in this state except fisher and bobcat which have special tags and elk which is a limited draw. You can have up to 6 doe tags at once but they are unit based so most units sell out with hunters only getting one or two. The unit I hunt doesn’t sell out so you could shoot 6 does, report them then go buy 6 more tags.

Always a chance with the weighted lotto, a buddy drew a high demand moose with 3+2 irrc, I haven't had such luck personally.

Then check my CC for CO hits and bout fell out of chair when I saw it hit. Started celebrating thinking I’m going on a MtNGoat hunt for sure.
15min later refreshed CPW portal that shows Points. And saw my Sheep points ZERO OUT!!!!
Everyone in the building heard those screams of happiness

Yep a NR on this site drew a ram tag 3+1… which is why weighted points are so stupid, bonus points make more sense although with how flooded apps have become might not matter much.

I’ll deff do some sort of update /story share being it’s a once in a lifetime basically tag that I got super lucky drawing early vs what some other hunters wait.
last year I had 1% elk archery tag in NM so super lucky to draw another single digit tag this year.

Do you understand the weighted points? Yeah sometimes folks will draw at a low combo but it’s just chance.

Bonus points puts more tickets in the hat.

Weighted points is low number wins and your randomized number is divided by your weighted points. But someone can always pull a low randomized number in general and win with few bonus points.

Not sure which favors the higher point holders more but both offer a chance to all past the minimum threshold, more to those with more points.

I do. Although it is super confusing, having more “tickets” (bonus points) in a hat makes sense. The getting assigned a random number and then the number inverts then it gets divided by your weighted points is some mumbo jumbo bullshit haha
