Are these cleanable to the extent of looking somewhat well taken care of? They’re a buddy of mine that has never kept them in a bino harness. The glass is flawless somehow. He potentially wants to sell them.

I’m aware the rubber portion of the eyecups are missing. Looking for somewhere to buy them without having to buy the whole metal portion of the eyecup

If you email Swaro they will probably send you replacement eye cups for free. They’ll send the whole metal piece with new rubber where you can simply screw out the old ones and install the new ones. I believe Swaro also recommends mild soap and water to clean their optics.

Blow them off with keyboard air. Use an optics brush to get any stubborn dust off with a light touch. Take off the eyecups and carefully rinse the binos off in the sink. You can use a brand new microfiber cloth with soap and water to clean the lens first and the body last. Blow off excess water with the keyboard air and let air dry overnight. I would then use Zeiss wipes for the lens and a lens pen to gently clean off the lens for any remaining smudges. Screw the new eyecups on and should be good as new.

I’ve heard not to use keyboard air because the sudden cold compressed air could potentially crack the glass? Not sure about that one though. Thanks for the rest of the tips senor

Take the eye-cups off. Swish in a bucket of water. Wash gently with mild soap and water. Maybe someone with NL's will loan you their special cloth, brush and bar of soap :) Final clean lenses with microscope paper and 100% ETOH.

I would send them in for cleaning and just a general service. It will make for a happy buyer and they will come back looking great. I guarantee there is dirt in a lot of the mechanisms in the focus wheel.

1. Unthread the metal part of the eyecup clean out by turning it CCW.

2. The entire binocular is airtight and waterproof to 12 ft. Run them under the sink to get the dirt off.

3. Email Swaro the serial number, model, and your name/address and they'll send you new eyecups.

4. Thread the new eyecups in.

Thanks everyone for the advice! Update on Swarovski, they emailed back within hours and are sending two new eyecups for the binos. Incredible service.

They are waterproof, give them a dunk in warm soapy water. I've done this many times with my optics. The optics (esp the housing) are more durable than we give credit for. They are designed to get soaked in rain / snow, exposed to dust / dirt and used in hostile environments.
