Did I find a bison skull?

Cool. Yep, that looks like a Buffalo. I don’t know the local history, but many Wyoming ranches have had a few Buffalo over the years. It’s also close enough to Yellowstone that a park Buffalo wanting to stretch his legs and go on a walk about could have gotten there on his own. I bet the local old timers could tell you stories of old man Jenkins and the Buffalo he kept as a pet back in the 1960s. 🙂

The eye sockets look bison, but maybe without the rest of the skull it looks like they come out further than they actually do.

The holes above the eyes I thought were more an indication of bovine, but might be wrong.

Im currently thinking beefalo

Perhaps old man Jenkins stock! My buddy and I joked all weekend that Jim Bridger himself dined on this bulls flesh

Spoke with a taxidermy man that has hundreds of bison skulls under his belt. Confirmed bison, he estimates a 13-14 yr old bull based on pictures provided. Makes the fact I’m not coming home with an elk skull sting a little less.
