Two kids, one bag. Some expensive coach diaper bag my wife bought. I tend to just let the wife worry about such things, and stay in my lane.

My Wife and I started with a His and Hers bag, but that lasted about a week. No need to have two bags, with either two sets of everything or load/unload everything to the other bag. Get a bag you can both agree on. We use an Osprey messenger/computer type bag and it's great. You don't want to go too big, or you'll load 20 diapers, five bottles and every toy and wipe you can find and you're only gone for a couple of hours. You literally need like 2-3 diapers tops, a pack of wipes, some pacifiers, maybe a bottle of Tylenol for the teething days, a couple of simple toys and maybe a bottle. Keep it simple. Just like hunting...don't pack more than you'll need or it's heavy and in the way. And I like the bag we have because you can get into it with the baby in your other arm or in a carrier and not have to take a backpack off to get something.

My wife picked the diaper bag and we just kept it with our kid the whole time. I found it easier to do that than stock and keep up with two as others have said. When our kiddos stayed with the grandparents the lone bag went with them. Now disregard if you want to use the diaper bag opportunity to get a good daypack for yourself:)

I just take the guide lid with a chamber pocket off my pack when I have the kiddos.

Ok seasoned dads......you know that a lot of you carried the pink stuff and so on. Don't forget what the adventure was like for a "newbie". One of my first squirrel hunting trips with my dad and uncle I carried a full shotgun vest with 12's and 16's, #6's and #8's, organized by gauge.....just in "case".

And yes I had a .410.

Don't be a glory stealer.....

Thanks for all the feedback guys. Being a firefighter, my wife and I schedule are not the same. I work a 48hr shift and then go home. So one of the main reasons for a second diaper bag, is that for any reason, my wife forgets to take the bag out of her car, I have my own.

Ok, that's it.....

Dude, you need a Stone Glacier 5100. It's the ultimate diaper bag. Your wife will understand. Just remember "honey, it's for my baby girl". You should have a free pass for 22 rifles and 243's for a little while too.

My wife signed up for some free stuff on the nestle baby website and they sent a baby backpack with a bunch of sample stuff in it and it comes with a change mat thing.
We put some extra clothes, diapers, wipes, cream, toys, snacks, blanket and sippy cup in it and it goes wherever our son does. It was free and works perfect.
Hiking is a different story! He rides in a deuter kid comfort pack and it's awesome.
I have been taking him hunting with me since he was 4 months old (more like a hike since he talks non stop)
Congrats on the baby! It's lots of work/learning, especially at first but so rewarding :)

I'll tell her you recommend that bag lol

Congrats! Just had my first last week.
We ended up using a Native brand laptop/travel bag we already had around. "Diaper bags" I saw at the store were super cheesy IMO. I opted to go with a Eagle E&E bag but that got shot down.
I think the bags you listed would work fine, also depends on what you really plan on carrying? Spare mag? Blow out kit (medical ;) ? Etc
Stay safe abroad and congrats again. Been such an amazing experience for me so far.

Other thing that I am wondering, is how much space do I really need

I neglected to say congrats in my earlier post. So congrats on this awesome period in your life! I don't know exactly how big our bag was but it was fairly good sized. Lots of great advice in this thread about extra clothes etc. I found as our kiddos got older we stopped measuring containers of formula out and just threw the entire can in the bag when we went somewhere. Extra clothes, toys, snacks, bottles of water, etc etc can take up a lot of room. So it sure seemed like as the babies grew so did all the stuff we carried around with us. Congrats again and don't blink!

Congrats man. Enjoy every second of it because it flies by. Seems like yesterday when mine was born and she's 2 now. As far as bags go, i still say go with just one bag even though you and the wife work different shifts. The bag stays next to the kid in the car and has to come out when she does etc. It's pretty hard to forget it. We started with a big girly "diaper" bag that looked like a giant purse. After we got tired of that, we got her a cheap camo backpack. The backpack is definitely the way to go in my opinion. It helps a ton to have your hands free and everything be out of your way on your back. Don't overthink it though. You just need space for some diapers, butt cream, a change of clothes and a few other odds and ends. When she had blowouts, we just threw those clothes away. It was wasn't worth trying to save them lol.

Hey, long shot, but any interest in a Mission Critical baby carrier in CB? My huge baby has outgrown it and it's a small market that'd be interested in it...

Congrats! I wouldn't get dual diaper bags, you'll forget something. My daughter is 6 now but I carried around a girly bag no problem, I think it's pretty accepted :) Also you have fewer people tell you how cute your boy is if you have a pink bag :)

My son is 2 with zero desire to get out of diapers, we now just stuff some diapers and wipes in whatever we have with but the first year and first child you'll be packing around a baby room and it sucks if you forget something in the early stages.

Congrats on the baby!!!! Its the greatest thing in the world being a father. Take lots of pictures you will not regret it later on. My daughter just turned 1 and I wish I would have taken a million pictures instead of thousands.

As for diaper bags go we just have one bag that my wife put together. Tried the two diaper bag thing and it just doesn't work. I do keep a Dewalt tool bag in my truck that has diapers, wipes, couple of toys, bottle and a spare change of clothes. It just rides in the bed and has saved my ass a few times when I have grabbed the baby and not the diaper bag.

I had every intention of making one of my hunting bags into one but in reality I just use hers. It's already packed that way and I look fabulous in pink.

Congratulations on the baby.

I used the diaper dude, camo and everything. I told people the little pocket in the main bag was a gun holster lol. Seriously though it did hold a 1911 well haha
