So I will not be going to Idaho this year for my Archery hunt. I had a great opportunity to go to New Mexico, unit 4 offered to me that I cannot refuse. So I called Idaho G&F and they said if I found someone that wanted the tag they can purchase it, through them. I am out the money but I would rather see a Rokslider go in my place. If interested message me.

Really? The IDGF said to send them the tag and they would just let you pick the name of the person that gets it when there is probably hundreds of people on the waiting list for Diamond Creek? Also, does anyone know how you get your name on the waiting list besides via the phone?

Yea I don’t think that’s how it works. And I only know of calling the noise office and getting your name on the waiting list. Got an elk tag that I missed out on initially a few years ago that way.

Yeah I'm not sure IDGF knows how it works either after talking with them. From what IDGF told me is you need to call the SE Region (Pocatello) give them your info, then they email it to the main office in Boise where the waiting list is made. I got through to someone at 7:55am on Monday Dec. 3 in the SE Region and I know Boise got the email with my info from from them at 8:16am, yet I was fairly far down the waiting list already, so was just wondering if anyone else had similar problems.

You need to call the main headquarters office and speak to someone in licensing. That’s what I did 2 years ago and they were great. Called me when somebody gave their tag back. Unless it’s changed since then.

I’m getting a refund for my tag and transferring it to a buddy. Major hassle putting the paperwork together but the main headquarters was great outlining what they need. Still, it hurts as much as the hand injury and surgery! Man I really wanted to get one last hunt in up there and my kid was pumped to tag along.

Hard to believe they let you decide who to transfer it to, when there may be other more deserving folks out there....bizarre.

I can’t think of a more deserving guy getting my tag. Dude dropped everything and gave up vacation and time from family on both of my rifle tags. Now he gets to hunt with his family members that got a tag.

I guess I'll be attempting to buy a diamond creek tag every year even if I don't want it, then just transfer it to whatever "friend" has the most money. Seems fair. Also thought it was weird that 40/47 diamond creek outfitter tags suddenly sell out right before Aug. 1 when they are supposedly suppose to get turned back in and go to the waiting list? Or can outfitters just sell them outright themselves?

He's not selling it to the high bidder, he plainly stated that. Also, he's not getting a refund on the tag either, so IDFG is getting paid twice for the same tag because it wasn't a family or medical emergency. He should be able to designate whoever he wants since he's out the money as well. Idaho's system of refunds and what not is stupid anyway. My buddy broke his ankle two years ago right before season and tried getting his money refunded on a Diamond Creek tag. They told him to return it and they would sell it to someone else but he wouldn't be refunded. I'm not going to tell you what he told them on the phone. He came out anyway, and we got him on his first bull anyways, although he limped and was at about 40%, we got it done. I think if they refund you your money it should go to those on the waiting list, if not, you should be able to designate it to whoever you want.

Hey guys, sorry got tied up with work all day till now. I called the SE office for Fish and Game. They told me I could apply for a 20% refund. Or if I knew someone who wanted it I could designate them. They would have to purchase it at full price and I would not get a refund. Like I said I would rather see a rockslide get this than a "stranger". Plus helping someone to get a good hunt is worth more than the 20% refund. I got a great opportunity to go to NM so I am passing it on. Several folks have PM'd me. I am going in order of contact. Again this is what I was told today. Seems odd to me too. But that is what Kim at the SE office told me. There is no selling it to the highest bidder. I lose all my money, you get to buy a tag at regular price. I will let you all know how it works out.

What? I’m not going to get 100% refund??? That sucks!!! I might call and cancel the deal. Maybe it’ll be good enough to hunt the last few days. I had an arrow break an go in my hand severing a tendon, nerves and leaving carbon pieces everywhere.

That's a hell of a hand injury. Was it a cracked or otherwise weakened arrow I assume?

I have a friend who’s an ER doc in the mid west he said several times a year he sees that. It’s common but never talked about and it’s a toss up if they get full function of their hand again.

It had to have been cracked. Usually I shoot fmj’s But had a few old carbon express arrows around. Not anymore. This stupid hand hurts as much as a shoulder surgery! Just dumb. Check your arrows folks!

Also got the screwing from IFG in 2016. Bull tag, wolf tag and deer tags purchased. Involved in a car crash in June. Spent 6 weeks in the hospital and 8 months in a wheelchair. Contacted them about a refund in Sept. they said return my tags and they would give me 25% of the face value minus 25.00 fee. And then they were going to re sell the bulltag. I burnt them in my wood stove when I could walk..

I read the Idaho Department of Fish and Game Commission Refund Rule: IDAPA 13.01.04.600 from their website and it seemed about as sketchy as all the different answers I got from IDGF about the waiting list, but it was from 2013 so maybe not accurate anymore I don't know.

How do they determine who deserves it more than the guy you pick? I know I’ve never had to submit any kind resume or anything outlining my experience and any other pertinent data that would influence whether or not I deserve a tag more than the next guy- there’s no place to submit such a thing. Is it just one guy or a committee who decides who “deserves” the tag. Laughing my ass off.
