Dented case necks

My 6 arc gasser is notorious for denting case necks. Figured the sizing die would push the necks out and fix the necks. But it's not. Is all this brass ruined? Just cheap Hornady and I'm wanting to upgrade to Peterson as well as put some padding on my brass deflector on my rifle. This pic is one I ran through my die.

A Wilson full length.

My super quick look at the Wilson dies (assuming it’s the bushing FL die) does not have an expander button. The expander is what will push the dented portion out to the normal dimension.

If that’s the die you have, you either need to use a mandrel to expand the neck, or pick up a different FL die.

Copy that I think it is a bushing die. Pretty sure. I've also got the basic Horny die I'll try.

You can get a neck expanding mandrel as well if you don’t want to buy a new FL sizing die. Just try not to overwork the necks by sizing too big then sizing back down.

Wrong die for what you are trying to do. Or you need a separate expanding step.

You shouldn’t be using that Wilson die without a follow up expander mandrel included in your process, imo.

Or use a different die with an expander button. Nothing is sizing the interior of your necks and that’s what you need.

Sometimes the "cheap" solution works best! Thanks!
Then run them through my Wilson bushing die to set my neck tension or just roll em like this?

I’m not sure I understand your question.

What did you do to fix the neck? Yes I would size with your die.

I ran them through my Hornady die which has the expander. So now should I run them through my Wilson bushing die to set the neck tension?

Depends on how much the expander moved the necks.
I use a turned down 30 caliber expander to straighten out dented necks to the same diameter as my shot brass necks. That way everything starts out the same.

No. Not necessary and would be overworking brass. The Hornady die should provide all the neck tension you need.

Either use the Wilson die and an expander mandrel, or use the Hornady die. Not both.

I have several Wilson/Redding/Hornady bushing dies, and with the right bushing, have never used a mandrel.

And apparently have never dented a neck either.

The bushing dies you’ve used probably had expander buttons too. The OP’s does not.

Since you are using this on a gas-gun, I wouldn't use the Wilson die. The Hornady will be just fine for your needs.

Since this is an AR I don't know that I'd want to be only neck sizing my brass. It'll just be a matter of time, probably sooner than later, before you start getting rounds that won't fully chamber. Best to stick with a FL sizing die on AR's
