Hey OR Archer, what is your opinion on the Muzzy Trocar's? Thats what I am shooting this year. Haven't shot anything with them yet. Wondering about the damage they cause. I use to shoot Ulmer Edge, but I wanted to mix things up a little. Thanks

It's my favorite fixed blade head and our #1 recommendation to our customers. This head has been around for a while. It was first manufactured by Rocky Mtn as the Turbo. They later changed the name to Blitz. For a small head it does a lot of damage and creates great wound channels. We have a photo album at the shop with customers kills showing the blood trails and wound channels. Very impressive what they can do.

I am on the fence with this deal too. I just went up and saw shane (Ontarget7) and we bare shaft tuned my 80lb carbon element. Last year I shot 300 kinetics with the 50 grain brass HIT inserts with 100 grain heads, but kept blowing the front ends up.

So I bought a dozen new kinetics and the 50 grain stainless steel aeroinserts and was going to try that route.

Then I bought a dozen easton carbon injexions 330s with the intent of running a 125 grain head.

Well to bare shaft tune I had to pick an arrow so I went with the injexions with a 100 grain head. I dont think I will be able to use a 125 with a 330 spine.

All this said, I am finding it hard to let go of the heavy front ends with the kinetics, especially because I am still using the HIT system. But I will give them a chance I think.... for now...

I'm shooting 330 FMJ injexions, 50 gr VAP outsert and 125gr heads. Arrows cut to 27 .5 outsert adds just over an inch to that. 70 lb Element,28.5 inch draw. No issues

I mean having them cut that short they will be stiff enough to handle the 80# at your draw length.

Chad I don't know of anyone making any 125gr field tips for them yet. Not sure if or what's available for broad heads either.

Easton started making the 125gr field points this year. Not sure what is available for broadheads.

I believe trophy taker also started making them. Heads on the other hand are a problem, solid and helix are the only fixed blades I can think of.

I don't have a much experience with the arrows, but just got some last week from The Bow Rack and was sold my first time out. In fact got in touch with Chris (OR Archer) today for another dozen. I have previously shot FMJ's, but have most recently been shooting 340 A/C/C Pro Hunters. I shot the FMJ Injexions side by side my ACC's and the penetration was a no brainer. Then I shot the best 50 yard group of my life and decided right there to make the switch.

I was shooting the A/C/C's because I still really like the HP inserts over the HIT or D6 because I have had experience with mushrooming the end of the shaft on my FMJ's. I also like to index my broadheads with the fletching, eventhough it probably doesn't make make a difference. When it comes down to it though, I'd shoot a glass arrow if it offered better chance to kill...so if I lose an arrow here or there I can live with it.

When you look at the FMJ Injexion vs. the FMJ, there are also some numerical advantages. Smaller diameter, which in theory should have better penetration and less affected by crosswind. You are also getting a lighter GPI for a stiffer spine, with the same construction as the FMJ. Depending on your preference for speed vs. weight, that may be good or bad. I still like to shoot fast, so thats an advantage to me. Inexions also have a lighter nock and a heavier insert. Its just a few grains, but mathematically speaking thats improved FOC built right in.

The Inexions are probably just a hair better than the FMJ's for the reasons listed above, but not sure if justifies making the switch for everybody.

The broadhead thing is a little disapointing. I've shot Montec's with good success for the past few years, but heard lots of great things about the Trocar so I look forward to giving them a try.

I'm currently shooting Easton injections 330 spine. Using 60 grains of insert weight up front and 100 grain broadhead. Arrows fly very very good! Cut thru wind like crazy and hit hard!

What length arrow and bow setup? I'm considering switching from standard (6mm) FMJ to the FMJ D6 (4mm) this year and want to run your same arrow setup or 50 grain insert with 100 gn head and 28" arrows in my Carbon Matrix @ 70 lbs, 29" DL.
