Dedicated .223 bolt gun suppressor

Alrighty folks I’m ready to step into the suppressor game. I’m planning on suppressing my tikka .223 and plan to only use it on that rifle. Looking at AB A10, cgs hyp k, sico sythe, and JKs stuff. What say you?

6.5 ultra 9 is what I think I would like if it’s for 223 only and max suppression at a reasonable weight was my goal.

Don’t be cheap on this. It’s a lifetime purchase.

I also wouldn’t buy anything that’s not 100% titanium.

The short answer is that you really have to have a reason not to use the AB A10 at this point.

I run an Otter Creek Polonium on one and a YHM Turbo T3 on the other.

Both sound similar, both set up with Rearden mounts.

I would like to find a dedicated .223 silencer that is titanium though

I'll probably be in on this hinted at suppressor when/if it becomes real...

The short answer is that you really have to have a reason not to use the AB A10 at this point.

The 5 baffle 556 one or you talking the 7 baffle 30cal? The 5 baffle 556 seems to give up 6+ dB to compared to some other options in the TB sound summit data for muzzle numbers. If they bored the 7 baffle in 556 also that would be a solid budget option.

I finally got my wolfhunter approved and want to make sure it doesn't have issues with messing with the rifle grouping like you've seen with some of their other cans, assuming it doesn't that one seems like (on paper at least) its quite, not too much more money and lighter.

For a dedicated .223 bolt-gun can, I'd suggest the Banish 223 ($850). It's as quiet as I've experienced on my 17" Tikka. I also have the AB A-10 ($550 or so). It's smaller and cheaper, but it's noticeably louder than the Banish 223. On my .243 Tikka, I use the DD Wolf Hunter, and it too is shockingly quiet.

Whatever route you go, don't get a flow-through suppressor built for gas guns. It won't be as quiet.

I have one. It's 7.25 long with the flush mount or you can use a reflex. I think the it sounds better/more quiet than an tbac ultra 9. Zero regrets or complaints with mine.

AB Raptors can be had with 5.56 bores, flush mount they are light and sound wise the Raptor 8 is up there with the best of them in its size.

Between the Banish and the Wolf Hunter it sounds like you prefer the Banish on a 223, is that correct?

I need another can, it will primarily be for my 223 Tikka, but more flexibility would be nice. I really like my 7.62 Raptor 8, but not sure I want two of them, especially not in different bore sizes. On the Raptors that leaves me with a dedicated 5.56 Raptor 6 (Don't like the weight of the A10), or a 7.62 Raptor 10, but not sure I want the extra length nor need the extra sound suppression.

The Scythe Ti is another option.

The DD Wolf Hunter is intriguing, a touch heavy, but being able to us it on 6mm would be nice.

I'll have to look into the Banish 223.

Well, looks like a Raptor 10 would be close to the same size and lighter than the Banish 223, so that is out.

Leaving me between the Raptors, the Scythe Ti, or the Wolf Hunter.

I would do the 7.62 one. I have sever 5.56 cans- I wish they were all 30cal.

That’s exactly why. The A10 is a legitimate can, works well. So why pay twice the money.

How much does weight matter to you?


A true OTB suppressor is just better. Good ones have better tone, better balance, and way less added length.
