Decked System worth?

Looking to put a decked system in my truck (without a topper). Curious for feedback on it limiting the depth of the truck bed for day to day use from someone who has one? Is it a PIA having to strap down everyday items that you carry/put in your truck bed or NBD?

I had one in a GMC Canyon. It was handy but not life changing I didn’t think. It does take up quite a bit of depth in the bed of the truck so loading a new washing machine or something is a bigger hassle, I also had a bed mounted rack system which didn’t help.
It was nice to be able to just leave stuff in the truck though; tow straps and recovery gear or emergency items like a sleeping bag and food.

I have one and its so so. I think if I ever get rid of it ill get the bed slide out and just run some totes up front for the items that live in the drawers. Easy to leave those in the garage on days I need the full bed.
I do like the security of having the tailgate locked and then the stuff in the drawers is out of sight out of mind.

With a topper they're great. I wouldn't own mine if I didn't have a camper shell on it though.

I have one on my work truck and it’s nice for that use case keeping all my tools and supplies in it. As for a personal vehicle and outdoor use, camping/hunting supplies etc I wouldn’t use one or think it’s worth it. So it depends on what you’d want it for. Does limit what you put back there. They aren’t terribly difficult to take apart or put back in but at that point if you’d be doing that regularly then I’d think you’d be set without it.

As said above, for a work truck it's great. I can keep my daily tools loaded in the drawers and still be able to load my kayak, four wheeler or lumber, etc with having to unload everything first.

same as above, my personal tundra has one, and my work truck has one. Both have ARE caps. I wouldn't use it without a cap, BUT since i have them they arn't going anywhere.

Tundra - camping gear, food weekend supplies (hammock knife axe) and recovery gear and tools on the other side.

F-350, soft goods on left (computers/scanners, fuses, tow straps), tools on right side, however, most of the rest of the bed is tools and climb gear also

I will say, 4 tires barely fits in the bed of a 6ft F-350.. and a Kubota 520 tire forget about. I couldn't haul a 3ft long piece of 28'' corrugated pipe the other day......


SO how often do you haul bigger stuff.

Having the flat deck and not having to Tetris around the wheel wells is pretty nice.

It’s love hate. Getting a loaded cooler up on it that far away from my shoulders sucks.

But idk where I’d put my shovels and other recovery gear without it.

And my coffee making station. Idk what I’d do without that.

I’ve had one in my truck for 7 years and love it. I do have a shell on top as well. I’m probably a little different than most.

I’m part time, I have a dog with me 98% of the time in a crate on top of the decked unit. I’m hunting 80-100 days of the year and just general shooting another 30-50 days. Never got a drop of water in the drawers. Have shotguns, rifle or two and a few handguns with me all the time. Can’t imagine not having one. The new ones look really nice with the new features.

I don’t recall how much they cost to comment if it’s worth it. But it transforms the way I use my small truck which is a 150. I also have a 450 to use when I need more space and to tow. So if it was my only vehicle it would for sure be a compromise.
