December $487 prefit group buy, several barrels are a go

$487 for a Tikka Hybrid Lite contour threaded 5/8 x 24.
SPECIFICATIONS
300 WSM
SAAMI
20 inches (or 22 inches)
8 twist (must be 8 twist - Barnes 212 LRX project)

For you guys looking for a barrel that do not get enough support, I have been ordering by PM for a few. Or, if you want a prefit for a different action Preferred offers.

I am gonna try something to make it easier, I set up a "single barrel" option for $470 for non threaded and $530.00 for threading. That is $50 off Preferred's list price of ($580) for a threaded barrel and a bigger discount than what they have every offered. I think they gave 5% off for Black Friday. And, our shipping is less I think.

$470.00 for any spec Tikka prefit (or other $500 base prefit)
$530.00 for any spec threaded TTikka prefit (or other $500 base prefit)

We are operating a lean inventory, which is why we discount this to pass along the savings. We aren't carrying the inventory on these pre-orders so we pass along the savings. My price break is at 5 barrels, so I need 4 or 5 depending on the barrel. I don't want a weird chamber sitting on my shelf.

So, if you want to order the barrel, and get $50.00 off, here is the link. I will order single barrels at the same time I do the bulk orders. They usually run batches for me, so I can combine shipping and save money to pass it along to you.

Shameless plug for @hereinaz 6 creed prefit. These things flat out shoot, just like all the other pbb prefits. Took this cow elk at 658 yards. One shot right above the shoulder dumped her in her tracks. And a five shot group with 108 gr eldms. The low shot was all on me. I always have to pull one.🤣

I like the idea, just was aiming at chambering I already have a pile of brass/dies for, but you’re right a 284 Win in an 18” barrel and LA bolt stop/mag would be just about the sweet spot for velocity with 162’s with a fairly mild load even… pretty compelling, let me stew on it a bit, any other takers?
19" PBB with the 162eldm I'm ~2750fps with H4350 for reference.

I mentioned it earlier but will repeat it here, if using peterson brass with the PBB reamer (unless they changed it) you will probably need a small base die. I had light clickers with my forester fullsize die, a redding small base addressed that with no changes to the load.

Posing a couple more questions/thoughts here while I deliberate my next rifle path b/c it is 6prc focused. (Special thanks to @hereinaz who's already been super helpful in talking with me offline about some of this.)

My current rifle is a T3X 6.5PRC and I'm contemplating one of LS Wild's pre-order barrels just to have on hand when I'm ready to swap. (Current barrel still has plenty of life in it.)

Thoughts:
-With ADG releasing the 6UM30, that feels like 1 less step not having to size down a 65prc case to a 6mm bullet as part of the reload process.

-Per UM, a 6UM30 has less recoil than a 6.5PRC, but the 6.5PRC will have a better barrel life (for those that care, I don't know if I do yet).

Assumption:
-A 6.5PRC and a 6PRC would theoretically have the same recoil since it's the same casing. Am I correct here? Therefore, the 6UM30 would have less recoil than even the 6PRC?

-I have access to a full reloading room, but may still buy any one-off pieces needed. Calling this out b/c it's a reduced cost of entry option I have for reloading.

Target goals:
-Targeting the min 1800 fps to 1K-1100yds w/ 108/9 eldm
-Will shoot this gun throughout the year on the range in addition to hunting, until I build a dedicated NRL Hunter rifle, hopefully with the same cartridge/caliber (bullet might change)

So the splitting hair questions are:
-Remain on the fence about barrel length. Either 18 or 20. (Running the OG65 come Jan)
-6um30 or 6prc, OR don't waste my time and just buy a 6cm barrel :ROFLMAO:

I'll (unapologetically) be the first to admit, it feels like asking the same types of questions in 10 different ways, but that's part of the learning curve getting into all this wildcat stuff, so I appreciate everyone's patience and feedback as I learn.

Recoil is powder charge and bullet weight. Assuming equal charge a 6.5prc with a 147 will have more recoil than a 6prc 108. So no a 6.5 prc and 6 prc do not have the same recoil. Also 6um both 30 and 40 should have larger case capacity than prc so they would have more recoil than a 6prc.

I may be incorrect but I believe the 6um head stamped brass still needs to be sized/necked down as it is 6.5 saum brass with a different name on it. I could be wrong about this I’m not sure what the most recent runs were.

Given any thought to a 284 Win? I posted in here a while back with basically the same specs that you and @Stache Attack listed just in a 284 Win instead of 7-08. A 284 has 200 fps-(ish) over the 7-08 which would be nice going short on the barrel. Just thought I'd throw it out there and see what you guys thought!
284 win will run with the 280AI. My custom barrel shoots 162gr at 2960 with single digit SD. There are a lot of match reamers out there that have a tight neck dimension that require neck turning. I selected a reamer, the neck dimension and the amount of freebore. I sent 3 dummy rounds to the barrel maker with a CBTO that parks the OGIVE .015 back. That is with a 24.3” inch barrel with a modified D18 profile (tight spiral flutes).

PBB has two reamers for the 6 Creed. One of the reamers will give you .183 FB with a neck of .277. The other reamer you select the freebore but are stuck with a .275 neck that will require neck turning. With premium brass like Lapua, Peterson, ADG you don’t really need to turn necks unless you want to.

Thanks for clarifying that.

All current 6UM head stamped brass is ready load a 6mm bullet into. They all come with a 30⁰ shoulder and a 6mm neck. For the 40⁰ chamber you have to fireform or buy the already fireformed cases.
