I did another buck with it today on the same side (that I resharpened) and the edge held up even better, it will still shave hair after breaking down a whole buck, including cutting all of the joints and cutting the head off, which is awesome

Ceramic and strop is all it will need this time, and I’ll do the same to the other side that’s still factory edge

In a couple weeks I should be testing it a few more times on some elk, but am confident it won’t be a concern at all

The factory edge is sharp, but not stropped, so just stropping would make a difference I assume

Seriously badass knife for my needs, it’s pretty genius

The carbon handle stays tacky wet and bloody, not hard d to hold onto in any scenario

It’s a lot more substantial than a havalon or tyto, or a BM altitude, in hand

Interesting idea for sure. The slots in the blade(s) seem like unnecessary gunk traps but not terrible. Is there any play/slop in the handles? Can't really tell from the website pictures how they are contoured on the insides to protect the hidden blade but I have to assume the cutting edge is not in contact with the carbon fiber.

I typically have no problem making it through an animal without sharpening my knife, but I also hunt with my dad and try to have multiple tags, so there's always a possibility of breaking down multiple animals on a single trip. I think my use case for this would be switching the handles back at camp in anticipation of having to use it again rather than switching mid-elk to have a fresh edge for the other half or whatever, but it's still probably the best execution of "two blades/one knife" that I've seen.

I don’t think the slots in the blade are unnecessary, I think the slots create structure to the knife, it’s probably pretty important to make sure the cutting edge isn’t rubbing into the bottom of the handle and makes sure there is no slop

Thanks for the pics. I didn't realize the slots were used to align the handles but it's definitely the most obvious solution. Overall a very interesting/intriguing design and I might have to pick one up one of these days.

Thanks for the heads up buddy, I’m glad you’re enjoying the knife [mention]roosiebull [/mention] The knife was designed and intended for the exact reasons I’ve seen you mention. 1 knife to get through an entire bull elk without issue of sharpening.

Frankly I’m the biggest critic of our products and it’s one of the few products that the first time I used it I was beyond impressed. 1 knife got through a 9-1/2 foot coastal bear last year before we launched it.

Years and years ago I sent myself to the hospital from a Havalon and that was kind of the “I’ve gotta fix this” moment.

You guys executed the “fix” well, such a clever well thought out tool. Every single little detail is well thought out, and one thing in my hunting arsenal I will never attempt to upgrade.

It’s “the knife” for me… it’s one of those things you have to use to really appreciate how badass it is

Great idea. I moved away from havalon for the same reasons. In the heat of the moment, changing blades is dangerous due to their design. I picked up a cheap outdoor edge and I like it more. But the havalon paranta is awesome with the two blades.

I just picked up a mini adamas carbon fiber with the magnacut and so far I'm impressed but I haven't tried to sharpen it yet. It can't be worse than the s90v. I'm putting this dude on the Christmas list.

Agreed the orange would be nice. I saw a picture of one that someone had the blade cerakoted orange and it looked pretty good. Far less likely to lay it down in the dark and lose it. Was thinking I may have to see if one of our local places can cerakote mine at some point.

Magnacut definitely takes less work to sharpen than S90V.

I have a mini adamas that has a cruwear blade, both it and magnacut is much nicer to sharpen than s90v

S90v is my least favorite steel to sharpen, and it takes a long time to get the edge polished. Have to use something with a lot of bite to remove material, and it’s time consuming to smooth out all of the micro scratches, and a mirror edge cuts better and longer (part of the reason I don’t want to field sharpen) feeling sharp and cutting good are different things

Even a knife that shaves with no resistance might not cut well if it’s a toothy edge (stropping usually makes it pretty easy once you get to that point)

As of right now we haven’t explored doing any sort of runs of color variants, obviously I’ll never say never because if it turns out there’s enough demand we will gladly provide what folks want.

Currently dmt’s then ceramic, then strop

Have a set of Norton stones in transit, because I get sick of diamonds changing all of the time… too much bite new, not enough bite after time

Agreed, typically the little work sharp is the what I tend to use for the knife and the bigger DMTs for our broadhead blades. Everything gets finished on a buffing wheel, most of the time the buffing wheel is enough to get everything down below 80 on our CATRA tester which is far sharper than I need for anything I’m either killing or cutting up.
