Oh these threads are actually a great big invite to post stuff like that. There’s no way me and my staff writers can cover these products without tapping into the member base, I’ve learned over the years that any product that’s been on the market for a while, there’s probably a bunch of members that have used it. So thanks for posting up man. Good pics too

I took one of my biggest bucks to date at 110yds with my Wolf, Magtec 240gn .44 bullet over 85gn of BH209

OH! Top tip...... get a hair tie to secure the ramrod. That rascal only needs to slip & turn a bit & you'll get a really nasty bullet strike...I know I could ditch the palm saver, but my gosh is it nice!

Excited for this November. It'll be my first muzzy mule deer hunt. Ended up scoring a tag for a 20tag zone in my backyard. Will also be using this exact cva wolf.👊

I bought a Wolf last year and put a scope on it for my NM muzzy deer hunt. I had a hard time getting it to group good but ran out of time and ended up settling on 250 grain Hornady FTX bullets and TC mag express sabots both recommended by local gun shop. With 84 weighed grains of BH 209 I was getting 3 to 4 inch groups at 100yds. Luckily I only had to shoot my buck from 15 yds lol. I cleaned the Wolf put in my safe and hadn’t touched it until a couple months ago.
My wife drew a NM unit 15 muzzy bull tag this year and I wanted to find a more accurate load with a heavier bullet and maybe a little less recoil for her hunt. I tried 300 grain Hornady SST’s over 70 grains weighed of BH209 and got them to group 2” at 100 but when I found the bullets in the dirt hillside behind my target the jacket and core had completely separated on most of the ones I found. I decided to try 290 grain Barnes T EZ over the 70 of BH209 and after some scope adjustments I got3/4” group from 100 and 1-3/4” group from 200. I’m about 5 inches high at 100 and dead on at 150, my 2nd BDC dot is about 2-1/2” high at 200. Both of these groups were after cleaning the barrel and 2 foul shots. The foul shots weren’t planned, but my first two shots out of the clean barrel were 3” left and 4” right and then the next 3 surprised the heck out of me. Also after finding the T EZ’s in the dirt behind the target they had started to expand perfectly after passing through the pine 1X4 pallet my target was stapled to.
Hopefully I’ll have some pics of a bull elk to post on this thread in a couple weeks.
Here’s a pic of my buck from last year shot with my CVA wolf and my target from this past weekend 290 T EZ’s over 70 grains weighed(100 by volume) of blackthorn 209 48802817-38A3-4A00-9EE0-C12D99C2B297.jpeg5F719397-4B49-491E-AC90-1D887B692065.png

I bought a Wolf after season sale and added discount, a few years back. Got it pretty cheap. Put a Konus scope on it and shots nuts on 'em. Plan on using it during muzzleloader season here in Texas. Loves the Powerbelt with 100 gr Pyrodex pellets.

That was mine. This is hers. She got an absolute cow of a doe. That wolf is a tack driver. I double lunged mine. She took the top of the heart and lungs out of hers. Crazy how accurate it is for that price point. Im glad it was recommended to me here on rokslide.

So maybe someone here can answer a question I have on these, I messed up and ordered a NW model Wolf, noticed it after the fact, it was the only black/stainless they had and I am ok with having the option for future usage, will I have to have the full 209 conversion, or will just the 209 or Blackhorn breech plug do the trick?

I am new to muzzleloaders in general, and from what I gather Blackhorn is the way to go, so to that end, is the Blackhorn Breech plug required to use it; I know they say it helps ignition with it, but I am wondering if anyone e used Blackhorn with a regular 209 breech plug to good effect on the Wolf.

hi, let's see if you can get a direct answer from @BPI_Outdoors

I'm not at home to grab my instructions, but I believe you do need the Blackhorn Breech plug

My Wolf is the first muzzleloader I’ve ever had. When I first got it I was unaware that I needed a different breech plug for Blackhorn 209. It only took one shot with a very bad hang fire to realize something wasn’t right, second shot and another hang fire I decided I needed to check a muzzleloader forum and right away found out I needed the breechplug specifically for BH 209. I went to Sportsman Warehouse and bought just the breechplug and haven’t had any problems since.

That’s what I needed to hear, now sadly I have to buy both, because since I bought the NW I need the 209 conversion kit and then I need the blackhorn

Oh well that’s what I get for not reading

I will let BPI comment on what is needed to convert it from a NW to the ability to run 209 primers. I am 90% sure that you will need a Blackhorn breach plug and a conversion kit for the hammer. I believe its a different hammer system between the two as well as the breach plug.

Yes, you will need the Blackhorn plug. You get very bad hang fires without it.

Yeah that’s what I needed to hear, I was pretty sure that was going to be the case, I didn’t see a conversion that didn’t include the breechplug... guess I will try all sorts of loads over time since I will have the parts

My wife filled her NM muzzleloader bull elk tag using the CVA Wolf, 290 grain Barnes T-EZ and 100 grains(by volume) of Blackhorn 209. First shot was 75yds and was a little high and far back but got liver, complete pass through. Bull ran about 100 yds and we caught back up to him as he was starting to go down. Her second shot was quartering towards us and she hit him right in the point of the shoulder through both lungs and he was done. Recovered the second bullet in between two ribs and was very impressed with the T-EZ performance. My wife was a trooper on this hunt. We hunted a nice 320 bull for 4 days straight and never could make it happen. Had him with 150 yds twice and he always seemed like he knew something wasn’t right and would find a way around us. We never hunted him in his bedding area until the forth day and we blew him out of there. Focused our efforts on just trying to fill her tag on the fifth and final day and she shot a bull we are both very proud of.
