Anyone else find that the stock rear has to be slid all the way forward on the sight ramp before hitting paper at 100yds. Its maxed out and I'm still 4 inches low. I need some way to raise it/slide it up/different rear sight option that is colorado legal so that I can zero in.

Powerbelt 295g coppers. Tried 100g and 110g with no difference. My dad has the same gun and the same issue. He's tried the aerotips/coppers and platinum at 295g and 300g. We shouldn't have to be so limited with bullet/powder. Seems like the sight is the issue.

I shoot the same gun and I did not have that issue with factory sights. I also used to shoot the same bullet but 80g. Have you tried calling CVA?

I have the same gun and if you did a rear peep with globe your issue is your front dovetail is too high. Need to get one about 1/2in lower. I had the same issue and made the change now good to go. It was some manual work but worth it.

Hey. I just sighted in my accura v2. I switched to truglo sights. I had the same issue with everything short of 150 grains. I’m running 120 grains or triple 7 and a290 grain t ez Barnes. My shoulder is sore but it’s dialed in a 199. ProbabLy further if I could see further

Yes, Virginia it is the sight;)

Two options to fix. Raise the rear sight or lower the front sight. Easiest fix is the get a shorter front sight. You can also shim the rear sight using aluminum can pieces cut to fit. Probably 2 shims

I just added a rear peep to my vortek and have a few front sights from a cva that amy help. Measure the height from the barrel to the top of the bead and I'll see if I have a shorter one to send you.

What are you referring to on this?

I think he is referring to the fact that all powerbelts are made of soft lead, regardless of what "skin" they put on them. Many people have killed elk with that exact bullet, and if you slip it thru the ribs behind the shoulder, you will be fine. But if you end up shooting thru the front shoulder, it may explode on you and not do enough damage for a quick kill. If you are gonna use powerbelts, I would use the 338 plantinum. Not because it is any tougher, but because it is bigger and has a smaller hollow point and won't blow up as easily. And NEVER use more than 100gr of powder for any powerbelt. It will kill better are a lower velocity and is less likely to blow up. But I would think the federal BOR in 350 gr would be a better choice. It is a lead alloy and therefore stronger if your shot is not ideal.

I had the same issue with mine, I took my calipers and measured the front sight and end up getting a lower front sight from Midway (if memory serves me) easy fix for around $15.

Wow, thanks for all the great tips. I am going to find a shorter front sight and a Williams peep rear sight. Also good tips about the bullets. Everyone in my group has had great success with PB on elk. I'll take a look at some other bullets too.

I also had the same issue with the stock sights on CVA Accura V2. I bought a Williams Ghost Halo for $8 and shimmed the front up with two pieces of plastic packaging the sight came in. Fixed my issue!

OK just be careful and not take any quartering to shots where you might have to shoot through the shoulder. Take only broadside and quartering away shots to be safe. If you use that 295 PB and try to shoot through the shoulder it might Not turn out well.
