Cutting down pic rail

Is there any reason that I may not be aware of that would cause a problem cutting a one piece pic rail into two pieces, as long as both front and back have the screws in tact? I’ve trimmed the front end overhang off of rails in the past, but not separated a one piece into two, eliminating the center over the action. Seems like it would be totally fine, assuming it’s not a huge leverage scenario like a diving board.

If it had MOA, could cause alignment issues, taking it on and off.

I have considered doing it, but would bed it or glue it permanently.

Not bedded or glued or anything. 0 MOA. All screws would still be in tact. Basically making Warne Maxima 2 piece bases, but would have two slots available instead of one, and be aluminum.

Did you ever try it? Wondering about this myself...

I've done a bunch of these. In theory you run the risk of alignment issues due to screw hole tolerance.....in practice, I've seen no ill effects.

I did it for my Fieldcraft for weight before I had custom rings made. Worked great.
