Cut and thread

Nice guys, but that's the expensive shop I mentioned.

I recently took two guns there to get some stuff done. I have at least two more, realistically 3 or 4, that I'd love to get cut/threaded, but for what they charge I can't justify it.
Not sure if you’re local but I have a contact for someone in Hendersonville I’m going to try on Thursday if time works in my favor. He’s charging $150. I’ll follow up when I can make it work.

What’s the specs on this?

I’ve got a factory Tikka sporter that I want 5/8”-24 at 17”.

Just curious what you have.

Thanks.
It's basically a Tikka T3, stock sporter barrel. From what I can tell, the stock barrel was threaded to whatever is needed. An adapter is installed that allows for 5/8-24 threads. The adapter is then tapered back to the stock barrel profile, bead blasted and thread protector. The adapter can't be removed. The suppressor now has a good shoulder to bottom out to.

So he’ll basically go to whatever length you want and make it work? With an adapter if needed?

Sounds like I can get what I want.

Thanks.

150-175 in central Va. Local smith turns them around in less than a week.

Most guys around here are $150. There is a lot of logistical issues with doing them. Spindle bore big enough for the recoil lug/action or do you have to separate it, is it long enough to reach both chuck and spiders. A fella can spend a lot of time before he even gets to cutting a thread.

Yes. I went 16.5" to have 1/2" on the safe side with the local law enforcement. They have been cracking down on SBR's so I went slightly longer. Love it. Like I said, it right about stock length with the can on. 20251104_161131.jpg20251104_160225.jpg

Check with sure match in Savannah, Tn. Dave has done a couple for me. He was reasonable but I don’t remember the price. Did good work.

If you don’t mind me asking, what stock is that on your tikka. Not trying to derail the thread.

OEM Tikka black stock, actually bought the gun used from a guy on the site several years ago. Waspocrew. He if I remember, sponge painted it. Bought it like that.

I wanted him to cut a 308 tikka lite to 18 but may just buy a factory 16 inch threaded version.
Not what I want but all the smiths close to me are so stuck in there way of doing things.
None of them do it like he does with the tapered collar. They all want to run adapters.
Told one of them if he would start doing that way he could probably get a lot of business
