Who’s cutting and threading y’all’s barrels and what are you paying?

Looking at cutting down a Howa mini. What are the chances the barrel will have to be removed?

I recently had one done, also in middle TN, and it cost ~$250. I doubt that I'll use that shop again. Nice guys, but that was just too much money relative to what it costs to just buy a vise and swap my own barrels.

I had the same barrel cut and threaded twice after it was initially done. Cost was low enough I don't even remember how much it was. Full barrel, both ends and chamber is $400, used to be $300.

I had mine done for $130, guy did awesome but by the time you deal with shipping two directions and them having to deal shipping it you would probably be better off paying the $250.

Mr. Big Guns in Huntsville will do it for $125.00. I use Meredith Rifles in Athens, AL, but he is covered up right now.
$125 is enough cheaper to halfway pay for a nice meal out on a trip to Huntsville, for us. So, thank you.

OP: one place I haven't actually checked but probably should, is rock creek armory near lewisburg. You might look them up and call/ask if you haven't.

You're welcome. You could also check out Pitts Precision in Taft. A friend recently had some work done by him and was impressed.

I’ll call them tomorrow. Talked to Royal in West Nash and a shop in Lebanon a couple months ago. Don’t remember numbers, but wasn’t impressed with either response.

Also, if you're up closer to Nashville, this might be an option. I've never used this guy, but he was a contributor on another forum, and always struck me as an all-around good guy. Might be closer for you, too.

To those that have cut the barrel how does it affect accuracy?
Could you shoot the same load with the same result's?

I’ve had equal or better accuracy from every rifle I have had cut down.

I haven’t had one cut down prior to doing load workup.
