@BRTreedogs - how do you like the comb riser on your RBros? I’m guessing it’s a weight savings over the integral? Does it stay locked up pretty well? Think I’m leaning toward going with the RBros
It is great. Would not change anything about it.
The way Travis does it there is sleeves in the stock so you cannot crush the stock.
It locks up super solid.
As far as I know the Apex hunter is the lightest or very very close to the lightest rifle that has a hard pistol grip style stock on it.
I love that style of stock.
But he will also do an a more traditional style with carbon if you like that and want even lighter.
Here are a couple crappy pics of a buddy's rifle he built.
Give Travis a call he is a pleasure to talk with.Resized_20190217_153217_9644.jpegResized_20190218_113527_7562.jpeg

What area do you live in?
I'm in central Oregon and would let you handle or shoot my rifle.
I travel for work to.

@BRTreedogs good to know- how much does you’re apex weigh w/scope? Sent him an email yesterday- just trying to figure out if I want to go with 300WM or 300PRC- either way I’ll end up using his load data with unknown munitions- I have some handloads for my 6.5 from them- great combo! Much appreciated- I live in central California (Sacramento area)... would you happen to know if he offers a law enforcement/veteran discounts?

Rifle, scope, rings. Zeiss v6 3-18
No ammo or bipod
9.2 lbs

I do not believe he offers any discounts.
He is already cheaper then anyone else i could find for a hard drop stock, custom action and Carbon barrel. And it comes with load workup.
Travis is the only one that included this I could find.
Moa is $700 more plus $300 for a load.
I know its alot, but you will be super happy. And it makes it super easy.
When I got my 6.5 from him I was zeroed and hits 12" steel at 717 all in one 20 round box of ammo.
There's lots of nice rifles out there. Id say the custom route just makes it easier, and after fooling with another rifle I had I just wanted to move on and go hunt lol

@BRTreedogs so in addition to the $4750 for the rifle you pay additional $700 for data ((MOA) and another $300 for a load up? So total walk away is around $5750 w/out taxes?

Moa is a different builder.
A comparable MOA rifle is just $700 more and they do not include a load.
If you want a load from them its another $300

Rbros includes it all for $4750 Travis is $1000 less for basically the same rifle.

Alamo Precision Rifles in Hurst, Texas.

I use them exclusively. They are a super personable and cost reasonable working man’s builder. They also build a product that in my opinion is as good as you can get at any price.

I purchased the RRS 24L with the anvil ball head this year. It’s an amazing tripod. I shot from the standing position out to 500 yards with factory 30 nosler ammo with bench quality results.

As an fyi, you can remove the bottom two leg sections of the tripod and get the weight down to 3.5# for backpack hunting. With the two leg sections removed, the tripod will still reach 42” height from first position. I think I ordered 1” diameter rubber chair leg caps from amazon to protect the threads.C55E0F17-F6FF-47EA-9644-88A10BA793D9.jpeg

Lots of great builders putting out great guns. I got an Alamo built in 300WM. Couldn’t beat it for the money, very happy with it.

I don't post much but I have had and still have a bunch of custom hunting rigs, 5 or 6 GAP's, 5 or 6 Hill Country Rifles and a few made by Adam at Mile High Shooting. They're the largest A.I. dealer in the Country (I think, no disrespect to EuroOptic) and do a lot of L.E. sales but Adam knows his stuff. In 300 PRC I have a GAP and in 6.5PRC a GAP but have Adam building me a dedicated moose gun for Alaska next year in 300PRC. 22" barrel and all in under 10 pounds. You might want to give him a look. I live in Colorado and have known them well for over 10 years. All mentioned are good. If your first, I'd try to find a guy you can drive to. Good luck.

Good choice, if you wanted a cheaper route for your next one, try badrock rifles. Defiance action, mdt chassis, triggertech, and aftermarket barrel. I'm not sure of which barrel brand, but the prs guys rave about them. You can get one for $2k.

Another very happy TS Customs customer here. Smoked my bull and 2 bucks this year at 632,305, and 330 yards with one of Travis’s builds. It is a tack driver to say the least. Alamo is also an awesome company and the guys there are great to deal with.

Great choice with rbros! I shot a few rounds with my rbros 7 Saum today at 840,950 and 1050 off of a bag and couldn’t miss at the first two. And had a 5 shot string where I was 4 of 5 at 1050 yards on a 10” plate. Guns much more accurate then I can shoot! That’s with a 9lb scoped rifle. Let’s just say you will not regret the decision!

I have the first 300PRC RBros built.

The test target Travis provided using 225ELDM was stoopid tight.

I run it now with 230 Hybrids and it's crazy accurate.

Another recommendation for Jon Beanland. His attention to detail is second to none. He has built 3 for me and they all flat out shoot.
