New knife arrived today from Cyprus Creek Knives. 3” version of a Canadian belt knife in MagnaCut with vintage linen micarta scales. Nice high grind and very thin behind the edge. It missed deer season by about a week, but I think it’s going to be an everyday knife that handles my small and big game chores. I specifically asked for a kydex taco-style a heat with an ulticlip. Jared Beavers makes a really nice, handmade knife for a reasonable price.

I've used Canadian Belt Knives for over a half century. Most of the unknowing folks that hunt with me ask WTH is that funny looking knife, My first CBKs were sold by Herters for $3.95. I gave my original Frost to a nephew and am searching for another. I'm sure there's a half dozen Grohman/Russell knives in my vehicles and packs. A quality knife can still be bought for a reasonable price.

Canada has a civilian group called Canadian Rangers in remote villages that are issued a version as well as Canadian Airborne Troops. The style that the Airborne and Rangers use is in my kitchen also and I find myself reaching for it frequently.

They look odd or at least different but are very comfortable to use.

I may have to contact CCK for a quote.

Do you mind sharing what this knife cost you? Sure looks nice! I’ve had my eye on the MT Knife Co version

I think I have had a couple old Frost knives, cool old company.

I am gonna find a reasonably priced one and give it a go.

The design is growing on me, but sure looked weird when I first saw them. Having used knives a lot more. I am liking the sweeping belly and the point. I have always liked a drop point as useful. It’s the sweeping belly that makes skinning look easier.

Great looking skinning knife. I typically prefer a little more point for breaking down game, but have also learned to reserve judgement until I’ve used a knife. I love the size on this one. 3” of blade is plenty if it’s shaped correctly in my experience.

Very nice. Knives of Alaska makes a nice one as well. I’ve used various brands of the CBK over the years.

A buddy of mine uses a 4” Grohmann carbon steel version for everything. I have coveted his, but am a small knife person and like using some of the newer, better steels. Will post more when I can use it, but my wife took it away after I opened it. It’s a Christmas present, but I had to make sure everything was what I ordered. Had a really good experience with Jared. He also does these with a really classy leather pocket sheath. Sheaths are extra over the cost on his website.
