Wanted to see what custom strings you guys are running on your bows? I have been running JBK's on mine but wanted to see what else is out there that is reputable and that you guys have had good experiences with.

There are a TON of great guys on archerytalk. I've got a set of JBK's on now that I'm plenty happy with, he messed up my order in a bad way made it right and sent me an extra set free to make up for the mistake. Top notch guy. Ex wolverine, breathn are two top notch guys who make amazing strings. My next set will be from ray knight on AT. His strings look like glass rods from what I have seen. Personally I will never run another set of vapor trails or prolines or winners choice sets. Plenty of guys make better quality laces for as much if not less money, and they will also talk about how the seasons going, awnser any questions about strings that you want to ask and are generally much much easier to deal with.

I have been shooting Tall Tine Bowstrings for the past year and really like them. I have 2 bows set up with them, each over 1000 shots and no peep rotation.

I agree with all this. Those guys on AT are top notch for sure. They are true custom building pros. Ray Knight (Chris) is a master. He builds with Rhino or whatever you want, but the Rhino is awesome. I am currently running with strings from Core Archery, another AT builder. They are awesome, he does great work. My humble little shop, Dirty North Archery, is starting to build strings now so I will be making my own from here on out!

There are lots of great choices. I have had really good success with Ex-Wolverine's strings, from Archery Talk.
Ontarget7 here on Rokslide uses his strings in his tunings.

I have used a lot of string builders throughout the years tuning bows and would have to say the best ones have been from Tom ExWolverine ...... John's Custom's ....
Jeff with JBK Strings

Take it for what it's worth, don't let looks fool you on a set of strings. It's one thing to have a set look great but more important is one that stays in tune.

Thanks guys. I talked with Ray Knight (Chris) and he told me he is on hiatus from string building/bow tuning until he can find a new insurance company to cover his work. I will look into the others mentioned here as well. I have serving separation happening on both ends of the top and bottom cams after just about 5 months of use. Sent Jeff at JBK pics and he is going to fix it but I'll be stuck without a string for the time being. Guess I can throw the ole factory strings back on. I need to start buying two sets in case this ever happens again so I'm don't miss any shooting time.

You need to look into the Platinum strings from America's Best Bowstrings.

All 452X, prestressed when built, one continuous strand throughout the entire string or cable. Halo serving for unmatched roundness, and center serving to fit whichever nock you are using for best nock pinch. Guarantee absolutely no peep twist, stretch, or creep.

I've got nothing but good things to say about Jeff. I contacted him and he told me to send in the strings and he would fix it. I am probably going to order another set so I'm not stuck without a bow while I wait for repairs. Once I get the strings in I will send the "old" strings back for repair.

Hey guys wanted to post a little note on here. Rokslide has a string sponsor and websites aren't allowed as per contracts with site sponsors. You are more than welcome to post about other companies but not post their website/web addresses. Thus the reason for my edits on a few of the posts.

That last note being said:

I have been running 8190 since it hit the market in 2012 with Winners Choice to get a feeling for the new material and that was the first time in YEARS I have strayed from Americas Best. I LOVE their PREMIUM string ( 8190/452X ) combo and have heard NOTHING BUT GOOD things about their new PLATINUM series. Inspired but Jack Wallace and even the GREAT Record Breaking Jesse "FREAKSHOW" Broadwater has started using them where in the past he was building his own because of trust/perferences in build.

I will be running ABBs again this year personally but am going to be talking a little more to the guys over at ABB about the PLATINUMS because I am so partial to the feel of the 8190 materials.

The bows strings and cables are the most CRITICAL component and I won't use a companies STR/CBL that doesn't back it with at least a 1 year warranty. I have looked at a few companies that only stand behind their STR/CBL for 6 mo and that to me just throws up a red flag. My Pro Comp XL target rig is pushing 10,000 arrows on it this year on one set (and i haven't waxed them yet!!!) they still look as new as the day they went on last january! No on can believe it. My cams haven't moved, my peep hasn't rotated it is the same shot after shot. With that many arrows with a 6 mo company mentally I begin to worry about something happening and in the middle of a tournament season (indoor/outdoor) or even a hunting season having to replace a set and almost start from scratch.

"PEACE OF MIND IS PRICELESS"

I continue to hold true to my personal belief that I would rather pay for the very best and products that I trust to do the job when it counts than to use/accept free gear/equipment because it is just that. Free. I have been offered strings and cables from other companies but when I have to make that one shot count on the tournament line or in the back country I TRUST AMERICAS BEST BOWSTRINGS and will gladly pay for peace of mind.
