Creative ways to cut weight?

Maybe the Savage 110 Ultralite? I don't own one, but I've read some good reviews and they come in at under 6 lbs. Magnum cal. is exactly 6 lbs. Or maybe the Lightweight Storm?

Good call. Even though they may not be refined, it seems like Savage always punches above their weight with features for the price

action isnt smooth at all and savage bolt lift is super heavy unless they fixed it.

One of the ways Savage offers rifles for the price point they do is by skimping on niceties. Find stock fit to receiver fit and smooth internal finishes increase the quality of a rifle, but I guess don't affect the accuracy that much from what I've seen
