With respect to 100 lb, what size elk are you talking about or what meat are you taking (not taking?) off the animal? With respect, I can get 25-30 lb off of pronghorn.

My ex gf just drew a cow tag in Idaho.

How many pounds of meat do get off a mature cow elk?

should be closer to 150 than 100 if youve done a good job of harvesting the edible meat. Esp if youre talking Roosevelt vs Rocky Mt.

Unless you have tiny elk all mine have weighed out at 65-70 lbs /quarter. The bones have weighed out at 28%.

Cow elk can be B I G.....Unless a hunter is exclusively targeting a smaller animal some of these estimates are a bit light imho.
