could use a hand with tikka barrel removal

I used a 5# and did not suffer any damage. Hit it with that and see what happens. Maybe tape over your trigger and bolt stop as I sent mine flying with a good whack. That’s how hard I hit it on a less than ideal vise connection. Got a better connection and one good whack with the 5# and she loosened up.

It was the bench flexing slightly, just 1/16” or even less. I added another 2x6 directly under the side of the vise that wants to “lift”, and anchored the plywood top down to that. It broke free after that. Im certain that just the tiny amount of flex was cushioning the impact, and it was not breaking free due to that. Once I eliminated that flex it transferred the wrench force much more directly.

So for the next guy that finds this thread: eliminate ANY flex in the system—even a tiny amount—and it’ll break free a lot easier.
