Costco has the Garmin inReach SE+ on sale this week for 219.99. I've been looking for one for a while and it's the best deal that I've found.

Yeah, my understanding is that the SE+ has better battery life but the mini is about half the weight. Have you had a good experience with the SE+?

I am looking at them as a basic backup to my smart phone. Might just be me but my iphone loses its mind from time to time in thick brush which makes me think the extra ounces are worth it to have another gps.

The inReach is also nice to use when your cell phone is having issue getting a GPS fix.
