Headed down to Costa Rica for a week in June.
Anybody ever fished with Coyote Fishing charters out of Tamarindo?
Or any charters out of Tamarindo?
Also plan on doing quite a bit of surf fishing, so any recommendations on
that would be appreciated also.

I have fished that general area quite a bit, though never in June.

Have your own gear? No need for a guide surf fishing, I will have to check and see if I have a contact near Tamarindo, we often just hired a cheap dude with a Panga cuz we always had our own gear.

We were north of there mostly up towards Coco and Hermosa, look on the map for river mouths and fish near there when the tide is moving!

Should be raining then so the rivers will be running.

Yeah, we surf fish a lot here on the northern gulf, so we have all our own gear.
And the place we're staying appears to be just next to a river mouth.

Anybody have any updates on charters out of Tamarindo? The wife and I are heading there in late March.

I can't comment on fishing charters, but my Wife and I honeymooned there.
  • Stay away from the all inclusives and rent a 4x4 car. Except the last night, stay at a hotel relatively close to the airport. It takes longer to travel between points than you would expect.
  • When you see a gas station fill up. They're far and few in between.
  • Watch the trees and the surface of the water for snakes and not as much where you're stepping.
  • The Nayara at the Arenal volcano is amazing and the nearby zip lines are well worth it.
  • Bring cash in small bills. You'll want to tip and having nothing smaller than a $20 makes it really expensive.
