Coronavirus Shutdown Ideas

I’m thinking about dusting off my home brewing gear.
paint the trim on the house
Shoot my bow in the garage
Supposed to get my new bow next week delivered to the local shop and then they were gonna set it all up so I might be learning to set it up myself...

I’m sure my wife has a different list though

I am gonna call in a lion or 2 (we can get 2 tags) maybe some coyotes, and declare war on winter steelhead.

will also be hunting some sheds of course, but that's more of a byproduct of the hunting i'll be doing.

spring bear starts the 1st, and will be scouting out food sources as soon as that opens. buzzards have been back for about 3 weeks, and lots of them the past few days, which means there are some bear out and about.

it could be worse.... it does suck, but this is a pretty good time for outdoor recreation, lots to do.

I need to replaced the floor boards on my sled too, have the vinyl and adhesive, just need a sheet of marine grade plywood.

put up a pic of how that is when done. I've never made it.

I don’t know, my wife is a pro in the kitchen and can put stuff together.

Generally, we just put the head, tail, and collars in crock pot with water (we grill the bones and bellies and eat that separately. That is the best in my opinion). Put in an onion and fresh ginger. Put it on high for 3 hours. Strain and save broth. Pic the meat and put it in the broth. From there we reduce and add Asian sauces to make a kind of Pho with Asian noodles. It’s pure awesomeness.

cool, we save everything but the head and rack, but I’d like to do more. I‘m good With a knife, but I’ve thought about getting more out of the racks and know there is more on the heads. I’ll try what you say next time.

Mostly great stuff so far, guys. Keep it up. I'm in Utah within 10 miles of Idaho so I'm still allowed to work. Salt Lake City is only an hour and a half away and I think they are cracking down there.
As far as cooking goes, I've been experimenting with microwave cooking. Yesterday's product was a personal size cheese cake. Most of my family rated it a 5, the top level in our food rating. Not very many foods actually make it to that level in our house!
If we get shutdown, I plan to play piano, do some photography, and mess around in the garage with my forge. I need to finish my railroad spike knife but I'm not sure what I'll do next.
I also had this crazy idea that a person could hand weave carbon fiber. Not sure if its really a thing or even what I would make, but it would be cool if its possible.

Weighed every piece of gear and input the data into excel. Now all I have to do is enter in the length of trip I’m going on and it calculates my pack weight automatically with food and all.

Here I go...

I forgot to ad I picked up a Stag-10 receiver set so I guess i have to decide on some parts.

I’ve completely renovated my pantry/prepper/utility room. Almost finished. Waiting for a few more things to get here from Amazon as far as racking but got all my bows hung up and most the shelving for food storage up. You can’t be too prepared and this current situation proves that!

We used to do the same. Then a friend turned us on to grilling the bones. Holy cow, to think of all the prime eating we’ve fed to the crabs over the years. Hahahahaha. It’s a little messy but we don’t mind cave man style eating.

Grabbed the last two gallon of cider Walmart had. This makes about ten gallon of wine and mead fermenting right now.

House projects that might actually get done finally. One in particular, better reloading area -:)

My wife and I are working to get our one year old sleeping better. Just not a sleeper, that one.
If we get anywhere with that and I have time:
- fletching arrows
- assortment of projects with hides I tanned a few years back. A buckskin vest for my little girl and a skunk hat for a friend. Hope I get to that!

Me and the kids have been getting out and skiing a few miles everyday and pulling the one year old around as well. Hit the beach today for a walk and had a snowball fight around the sea ice. Went ice fishing once this week and will probably do it tomorrow as well before I head back to work. A3BB6841-2C11-4B90-A822-7BEDEE315191.jpeg
This week we went ahead and canned another 20 lbs of moose meat and grilled out a moose back strap, moose burgers, moose flat tacos, caribou breakfeast sausage, and having moose kabobs tomorrow. We are blessed with a full freezer.

The "lockdown" is just starting to kick off here in Oz, but it'll be as much time as possible looking for deer with the kids, a bit of fishing thrown in here and there, and the rest will be on the guitar

Serviced the mower, planted the garden, been looking for morels, made a decent Elk carne asada...smoking a butt today.

Next up is respooling all my fishing rods and get my trout gear ready to go. Going to fab up some gutter silencers for the down spouts by the back porch...scavenger hunting for materials around the house always adds to the fun.
