Rokslide sponsor Cooper Firearms has developed a new rifle and is giving Rokslide members a chance to name the gun and receive a $500 voucher towards any Cooper Firearm. Here's the scoop they sent me:
"Long Range- our new yet-to-be-named long range rifle, much like the Timberline, will combine the best attributes of our current XLR and JLR rifles. The forearm is of a slim semi-beavertail design with angled belly for quick adjustment of muzzle elevation while shooting from artificial support such as a backpack, sand bags, etc. It also features a high comb and vertical grip, traits that are now common with long range shooting systems.
Along with the new Gen-3 model 52 action, is a new bottom metal system designed to accept AICS DSSS (double stack, single feed) magazines, which will increase magazine capacity from 3 to 5 plus, depending on caliber. The long range rifle will also feature a Cooper-made Kevlar reinforced fiberglass stock. The 26” stainless steel barrel is fluted and threaded muzzlebrake is standard, as is a spiral fluted bolt. The LR comes standard with a Timney Elite trigger as well. It is rounded out with a tactical style bolt handle and bolt shroud for your aesthetic pleasure.
The rifle will be offered in 6.5x284, 26 Nosler, 280 AI, 7mm Rem Mag, 7mm STW, 7mm RUM, 28 Nosler, 300 Win Mag, 300 RUM,338 Win Mag and 338 Lapua and will post an average weight of 9.6 lbs"
OK Roksliders, I'd love to see one of you win this. Based on the specs, Cooper's great reputation for accuracy and service, reach in that cranium and think up a great name for this new gun. If you're more the researchy type, click on Our Rifles to view current rifle names. If the name you offered up gets picked, you're eligible for $500 off a Cooper rifle of your choice. Post your entries on this thread! Contest closes February 25th.
