Sorry to hear about your poor customer service experience, Repins05. I’m curious, which distributor did you purchase from - Fenix Lighting or Fenix Store? Thanks

Fenix Lighting. After a few months in, I did a quick google search and found others with the same experience. Several people basically said they quit and never got their light back.

Thanks. My purchase was from the Fenix Store so I’ll report my experience IF I need to contact customer service.

I am not into bashing businesses, especially those who offer outdoor or hunting goods. I can handle subpar or poor customer service. I may not purchase from that particular company again because of a negative experience. I often will give a company a second chance because it could be just the rep having a bad day etc. I also don't care if I see products that I feel are over priced for what there are in my opinion. I am always happy that a business will enter the market with new products or innovations. I would not typically post about any of the above mentioned or give my feedback etc.

I was actually expecting to pay for the repair or new plastic piece needed because of the length of time I had owned the head lamp (6 months +). In the end, I did not have to pay for the issue.

The experience with Fenix is in a different category.

I own 3 of the higher end rechargeable headlamps and a $400-500 Fenix search light. The original headlamp I started with has been great with no issues. I have used it for years. I obviously liked the products, but again will not buy another Fenix if that says anything.

Thank you, SquirrelyDan. I was originally looking at the 70r and was steered towards the 75r. Thoughts on the differences between the two and if the features on the 75r are truly an “upgrade”. Sounds like all of their headlamps are highly regarded.
Sorry for the late reply, on a Maui hunt 😀. The features are so similar I think both would be great. Also, I have had one fenix warranty claim out of the 6 lights I own. It was quick and painless, replacement arrived within a week.

I’ve tried a lot of brands. Found Fenix about 6 years ago, never looked back. I’ve got an HM65R. It’s freaking awesome.

Thanks for the input, SquirrelyDan and Jake Larsen. I have now received the Fenix and Peax headlamps. At least initially, I am really impressed with the quality of the Fenix - both the build quality and the light output.

Final Update: Keeping the Fenix and returning the Peax. The 75r fit my needs better and I love the option of the on-board extra battery plus the ability to store it elsewhere if desired. Thanks for the advice and recommendations.

God bless,
Wayne

Help me understand why the 71r has more lumens than the 75, and is less expensive? I guess I'm trying to figure out what the advantage is w/ the 75?

The 75 has 4 led's in it and one of those is red so there's added cost there as opposed to two led's in the 71. The 75 looks a bit more complicated to make, the 71 is much simpler. The 75 just has a whole lot more going on with switches for the modes. It looks to cost more to me because it's got more going on with the added features and red led. Lumens isn't everything. The throw on both in spot mode is about equal. cd/candela are about equal between the two in spot mode.

"Lumens measure the total amount of light output by a source, while candela is more specific in measuring how much of that light is travelling in a particular direction."
