I have been doing some reading on compression sleeves for the lower leg and wanted to see if anyone here had any real world experience with them. From what I can tell there is no definitive proof that they offer advantage in performance, but may however have some benefits when it comes to recovery. what say you....

I wear them sometimes when I have a to do a lot of jumping or running during my daily workout. your supposed to wear them up to four hours after your workout or you can wear them all day on the mountain and then give your legs a break at night. The sleeves do aid in faster recovery times and assist in preventing lactic acid build up. your still going to have have some acid. The only other alternative to that is a tsp of baking soda a couple times a day while out on the mountain. or maybe a BC powder.

I wear the 110% brand hope this helps

I've been experimenting with them some lately. I have some Smartwool sleeves and some Injinini full socks. They do seem to "feel" good during the recovery phase when your calves are full of lactic acid. They also "feel" good when your calves are sore. I can't say for sure if they actually increase performance.

I can't say that they increase performance either, but they do make my legs feel better when running, Ill sometimes wear them in my sleep as well...

I use the CEP brand, well worth the 40 bucks I paid for them...

I have been using the smart wool sleeves and the first lite comp socks, they help and it might just be a placebo but I am OK with that.

$.02

I used the copper sleeve things from tv all last season on my knees. as shark noted is may have been a placebo, but it appeared to help somewhat and I am good thinking it helped as well.

I wear under armor compression socks every day and compression sleeves when I haven't ran in awhile and go for long runs. They help you a lot in my opinion, I have oversized calves and the sleeves seem to help with the movement of my calves. I also wear the first lite compression socks while hunting and really like them.

Haven't done the sleeves, but the socks do work. I tore my Achilles last November and while I recovered I noticed a huge difference in the amount of swelling on days I wore compression socks to the days I wore normal socks. Even the Dr. stressed wearing compression socks or sleeves everyday to keep the swelling minimal for recovery.

I bought some from a running store a few years ago. I wear them in longer trail runs and during crossfit workouts. I think they truly help on the long trail runs, not sure with crossfit.

After a bad calf muscle pull from over training I started to wear compression sleeves on long training runs and races. I definitely feel that they have helped and do help with recovery.
