I put this rifle together to match my NRL Hunter rifle. Plan was to have a lower cost, lighter recoiling rifle for practice. Slow the rounds down so I can learn to watch trace and read the wind, etc.

This will make a great deer and hog rifle... I loaded up some 140gr VLDs over H4895 to fireform the brass and get some rounds down the barrel before serious load development. Random load shot 1/2MOA for sight-in, then went out and hammered a nice boar...

I planned on running the Berger 140gr VLDs. Based on Quickload projections, it should run 2500-2600fps.

At the OBT node, its at 2560fps.

That just edges out the 308s 168 FGMM loads. Slightly less drop and drift with equal energy on target. BUT 65% less recoil!

Other options, and a better answer to your question. Velocities are projections from QL:

110 Barnes or Speer TNT @ 28-2850
120 Barnes, Hornady Vmax, Nosler BT @ 26-2650
130 Speer @ 2600
140 Berger @ 25-2550
168 Berger @ 2400

Reconfigured the rifle and put some rounds down the barrel.

This one shoots, and looks good doing it...
