I guess it’s not a injury per say, however it is a risk. I have had a few friends who have traveled up from lower elevation states to hunt or climb with me and have gone Hypoxic on me.
Altitude sickness is big deal and can effect anyone. Usually children and elderly are effected pretty good, however I’ve seen even the healthiest of friends get Hypoxia. For most it’s time that is your friend. Don’t have them keeping “pushing” on. Rest is usually your best friend. I’ve seen friends go from mild headache, nausea and dizziness the day before to stopping, setting up camp, let them rest, hydrate(don’t over do it) and in the morning perfectly fine.
If it’s any worse your best bet is to descend back to lower altitudes and possibly oxygen supplementation and monitor.
