Just got the new Colorado hunting booklet Saturday and there are new requirements to receive Lifetime Disabled Veteran licenses. Previously a disabled vet needed a rating of 60%, now it has been lowered to 50%. A free lifetime Small Game/ Fishing combo is available for those rated at 50% or more. My application and documentation (I am rated at 50%) is in the mail! I already get a Disabled Veteran plate for my truck which has a requirement of 50%.

I am not sure I’d really consider it “free”, you do have to “pay” for it one way or another.

It is nice to know that there are some perks to being a veteran, but it isn’t as much as you’d think.

If you have a new vehicle, those DV plates can save you over $1000/yr. Even on a 10 year old vehicle it's still in the 100's. And not having to pay the $50 for moose, sheep, and goat points saves $150 a year just right there, along with the free combo license as well. I don't expect it, but it's kind of nice.
