Is it possible to see the data regarding how many tags are available vs first choice applied for a given unit? I'm planning my first elk hunt as a nonresident and applied for a unit that should draw with no points in the first archery season, but I would like to be sure before I buy a plane ticket and would love to buy it asap. There is no way to predict odds. Your best bet is to look at the last 5 years and see if apps are increasing or what is occurring.

Any reason you're stressing about buying plane tickets now? Should not see a price increase, in fact they are usually at their best price ~ 3 months out.

Where you traveling from?
Archery, Muzzleloader, or Rifle tag?

Dont buy a ticket until you know, unless its refundable or you can make changes. Simple.

Always worth a call to the biologist in the area. I don't know if they are allowed to release that info ahead of time (maybe not), but they may give hints. IE its going to similar numbers to last year, decrease, increase, etc.
