I had a hard time finding deer scouting this summer. Finally found a group and decided to hunt them. This is my second mule deer since I was 13 years old. I'm 34 now. I have always been more into elk hunting but this hunt was special because I took my 13 yr old daughter. She was a trooper! Parked the truck at 8500 ft and camped at 10000 ft. Killed the buck at 12300. She was with me on every step. Even pack out some meat. I had planned on staying 7 days but she started fading fast on day 3 so this buck got the hammer. I couldn't be happier.

Congratulations on the buck and it's real cool your daughter came along. Maybe next time it will be her buck , I promise you that would be even sweeter than you getting the buck.

That's no joke! She shot a fork horn last year with me and it seemed like a 200" deer to me. So cool. I was shaking more with her deer then any other animals I've shot. I think we have an addition to the hunting world with her. Lol

The story behind that buck makes it a true trophy! I have girls myself and hope to have similar experiences.

Hopefully you can have that bad boy mounted and keep it as a reminder of that trip.

Congrats.

Chadd44 , I hope she stays with it. So many girls start with their dad but as soon as they get a little older they drift away. My friends have daughters who hunted with them when they were young teens but by the time they graduated high school they had quit. I think a lot of it is peer pressure that says hunting isn't what girls do.

Definitely a cool pic. My daughter is a senior in high school this year and while she has two tags, she seems less interested than previously. Perhaps peer pressure. I am pretty sure if she meets a guy who hunts, then he will have a great hunting partner. Regardless, precious times in the field with kids and always great to record it with good pictures.

My daughter is 13, and we are getting her rifle zeroed for her mule deer tag. I am actually more excited for her hunt than for mine. Nine weeks from now and into the rut....
