What is your level of experience with shooting lighter wt magnum rifles? A light wt 7 PRC is probably gonna have a significant recoil. I have shot a 7 rem mag for decades, but my rifle is heavy. Something to consider.
Not much, I figure I can handle it with the suppressor. I don't get out and shoot a lot. I practice a fair amount for hunting season and hunt. That's about it

I have a Fierce 7 PRC with a Scythe on it, and it is unbelievably easy to shoot. I would say recoil is similar to my unsuppressed 7mm-08. My 12 year old will shoot 10 rounds with it, no problem. The Scythe has an external break on it, which helps tame recoil quite a bit more than most suppressors.

I really like my Fierce. Factory ELDX, and reloads with the 175 ELDX and 175 berger with different powders were all under 1 moa, with several 0.5 MOA or less.

I don't have experience shooting the others. I have handled the Weatherby, Seekins, and Springfield Waypoint that liked them all. Never heard a bad thing about Seekins, I just didn't like the spiral fluting as much and the stocks felt "cheaper" to me.

I have had several buddies that had accuracy and quality control issues with Christiensens, so stayed away from those, even though I liked the feel and fit of them.

Isn't the first question how you hunt and then, the rifle choice will make itself clear. If your shots are 400 yds or less, or you do a lot of spot and stalk..................

I keep hunting shots at 600 or less and at 600 conditions have to be right

I don’t think the recoil is bad on a 7PRC with a brake. I’m not a big fan of recoil and I can spend a day at the range with no pain except in my wallet.

I’d recommend a browning x-bolt 2 spr, It’s not a 22” but a 20” and so far no complaints. I’ve shot out to 1100 yard and have shot a couple deer and coyotes from 75-360 yard and have no problems spotting impacts.

I shoot with a brake, buts that because our government is a bunch of morons (Canadian) and think they are dangerous. Brakes suck, my hearing can confirm, but a 175gr bullet doing 2820fps is lethal on anything

My buddy has the 307 alpine CT in 7 prc. Excellent rifle, very accurate. Fit and finish is superb, as you would expect from Weatherby. I have a Mark V high country in 7 prc and have been very pleased with it. Very accurate as well. We used both of our rifles to double up on bulls at 600 yards this year.

7 PRC is not a cannon. Back in the day everyone over the age of 15 was shooting 180 grain bullets from a .300 WM with no break and no suppressor and we killed shit just fine.

This is the elk forum right? I love my .243 and my 6.5 creedmore, but hey not for the 380" monster I hope to topple at 350 yards. Just sayin.

Seekins. Great value for the money. +1

Looking at getting a new rifle in 7 prc. Thinking a 22" barrel and fairly lightweight with plans to add a suppressor. I'm currently looking at weatherby 307 and Bergara Carbon Wilderness Ridge. Does anyone have any experience with either of these or have a better recommendation in the 2k range? I've put hands on the Bergara but the 307 is not in stock anywhere near here. Any thoughts are much appreciated. Thanks
I just bought a seekins element chambered in 7prc, 21inch barrell, bare rifle weight us 6 lbs. Light enough I topped it with night force nx8 3-32x50 scope. I'm ringing steel out to 600 with it. That's pretty good for me.

I have no issue with the 7 PRC, it’s a fine round if you like it. They have very mild recoil suppressed, my sister used my shoulder as a rest to shoot her bull this year with 7 PRC suppressed.

My only recommendation would be to find something with a short barrel if building a purpose built suppressed rifle. Something like 16-18” would be ideal so you don’t have to lug around a 5’ long gun in the woods. I personally just bought a 280AI kimber with the barrel chopped to 16” that will soon wear a suppressor and still be a reasonable size to pack around.

As far as rifles go there are a ton of good options and they don’t need a rok stock to shoot well. My sister bought a Ruger American gen 2 in 7 PRC a week before bull season. We sighted it in just a few minutes with Hornady ammo. Used hornadys ballistic app and had her hitting steel with first round hits out to 500 yards. Put the can on it a few days later and re zeroed and verified to 500 again. The rifle is pretty light, shoots excellent and was a reasonable price. The only downside IMO was with a 22” barrel it ended up too long with the can.

For 2K I’d probably find a rifle I like for under $1500 and have the barrel chopped to 16” threaded with the rest of the money. A 7PRC at 16” will still do excellent out past 600.

Here is a 22” barrel PRC with a can.
