Colorado Black Bear Acorns

Whenever I have a tag I swear they become invisible, if I don’t it guarantees multiple sub 50 yard encounters
I primarily rifle hunt and frankly have ran into few bears but that is because its later in the fall and/or I'm not looking in areas of bears specifically. Definitely a the early stage of the learning curve on finding / hunting them.

I’d say in a dry year like this focus on the drainages where there will be good water and mast and berries, seems that’s where I’ve found them most often, which usually are the worst for rifle hunting cause they are so thick sometimes they will have a decent vantage point though

Some years, I'm pretty confident that I have Fall bear hunting figured out, if not completely dialed in. Other years, not so much. After 7 days of bear hunting so far this Sept, I'm firmly in the "not so much" category this year.
Aside from knocking over every single trashcan in my neighborhood most every night, I'm unable to hone in on any consistent activity. The bears I've seen have all been on the move and not stationary long enough to cut the distance on. First weekend of the season, there was at least some minor concentrations of acorns here and there, but that's either been eaten or knocked off the brush by the crazy storms we had last week. Fro the looks of it, the bears in that area were relying on rose hips, but I assume those have all been eaten by now.
I hit two prime drainages this weekend following the storms and turned up nothing -no sign at all from the last 24-48 hours. I did see 4 moose, though.
