Colorado backpacking trip

Have fun fellas! I will catch you guys on the next trip.

Looks like you guys had a blast. I will definitely have to get in on the next one. Side note the Wedding we went too for a friend of ours out at Palmer Lake was an epic time. Still wish I would been able to make this though.

Thanks all for a great weekend.

If you ever get a chance to head out with Aron and Joe, do it.
These guys have a wealth of knowledge and are not shy to tell you what gear has worked for them or why it hasn’t.
I don’t believe I have ever heard them tell anyone not to use a piece of gear, but will point out the pro’s and con’s and leave it to you to decide.

No matter what gear you have get out and have a good time as this is going to be the only way for YOU to decide what works for you and what doesn’t.

Here are some stats for the hike in and additional pics.

Distance 5.7 miles to main camp (4.03 as the crow fly’s)

Avg speed 1.4 mph (mine, out of shape old man, everyone else was around 2 – 2.5)
avg moving 3.0 mph
max speed 5 mph ( had to be from the parking area to the first ascent )

Elevation
min 9825 ft
ascent 1272 ft
max 10943 ft
descent 643 ft
grade 2.1%

I was wondering how far you guys went on Friday. I didn't get started till 7:45pm. A little over 4 miles I looked back to the top of the meadow and saw a big fire so I thought I had overlooked the camp when I went through. I headed back up to find out it wasn't you guys.

Maybe next time I can make it at start time.

Curtis,
did you have a gps with you? if so can you shoot me the track and I will shoot you mine. would like to know how close you were.

that link is cool. I will try and figure out how to post mine like that. in the mean time camp was at the following: N39 19.443 W105 32.986
looks like you were just shy by about a mile

looks like you took an extra jog around the meadow.
