Colorado backpacking fishing trip with a youngin.

My oldest daughter (12) wants to do a hike in fishing trip. Im planning this for next year. Going to go where I've elk hunted before but I've never been to CO any other time than September lol. Other than during elk season what is your favorite month to be in the mountains? Better fishing, less bugs etc

I like to be in Colorado during the fall, Sept-Oct. Aspens are turning color, elk are down low, the tourists are gone and the weather is as close to perfect as you can ask for.

Early/mid August is good. The nights are starting to cool down, hopefully the monsoons will bring some afternoon showers.
Some places will even start to freeze, and that means very little bugs.
Fish are hungry
