Colorado 4th Rifle Thread

Well, that was an interesting 4th season!
Weather was HOT where I was at and I heard almost no shots even though I saw other hunters in the area.
Everyone I talked too was only seeing smaller bucks and holding out.
Passed on a solid(ish) 3x3 on day 1 which is my biggest regret in hindsight!
After a few days I said **** it and decided to fill the tag with a chip shot on a forky that was super close to the road (easy pack out).
Glad I filled the tag but still kicking myself for not shooting the bigger one.
I'm ready for next September!

Wife had a 4th season doe tag. Took our 5 and 3 year old boys out 3 days in a row but they aren't great at maintaining quiet so we didn't tag out. Had fun anyhow and the boys got to play in the snow a bit and hike through some good mud.

Got a buck down straight away Wednesday around 9 am. Shot him at 364 yards across a canyon. This buck was chasing around his group of 7 does. Decided to pass up two other 4x4s at first light right before I saw him that were doing the same with another group of does.
Nice buck!

Here is my 4th season deer story. We were driving home from my son's 4th season elk hunt. Was pulling a trailer with our gear and the head was strapped on it also. Stopped along I-70 to get fuel and some ice cream. When getting back on the interstate there was black truck beside me on the left. I got out ahead of them a little bit and scooted to the left lane. I looked in my mirror and they were coming up on my right side pretty fast. Right as it got up beside me they rolled window down and held up 2 NICE racks. And gave a thumbs up. Assuming they were coming back from Colorado. I didn't get to see their plate to know what state they were heading back to.
