cold weather boots

Thanks my longest walk is usally 100-200 yards or so i dont think my feet will sweat.
You might be really surprised. A wool sock and an insulated boot makes for sweaty feets.

Being a cold blooded northern guy, 30 degrees ain't that cold but I'd consider packing in dry socks and changing as soon as I get to the stand.

Boot blankets as others have mentioned are awesome and a small foam butt pad as a standing pad to insulate the bottoms of your feet is great.

Another thing is how tight that boot is. I know you mention slip ons but if you're really snug in that boot, you're gonna have problems

Buddy of mine in Alaska uses a foot antiperspirant called Carpe during hunting season. He figures that if he can stop his feet from sweating in the first place that he won’t have cold feet. Can’t say I’ve tried it but it sounds like it could have some merit.

Lite Boots work great for me with a single pair of wool light hiker socks. It's been upper 20's in the morning the last couple of days and last year I hunted a couple of times in upper teens. I hike in with just pants/base layer then add layers before I climb, or add lower layers before I climb then upper layers after I've cooled a bit. I'm a heater and sweat like crazy if I wear much hiking in.

They don't breath as I usually notice my feet are damp when I take the boots off. They don't have a liner or anything, just the croc like material. I have enough toe room that there's plenty of space so my feet aren't constricted. Tight boots will cause my feet to get cold more than anything I've noticed.

It's a semi well-known technique. Any antiperspirant (not deodorant) works. I use Sure Unscented. Antiperspirant literally plugs your sweat glands. Dry feet are much warmer than damp feet.

1. Antiperspirant
2. No tight boots!
3. Light/thin socks for walk in, changing to good wool socks on arrival
4. Boot blankets or down booties and foot warmers if extremely cold
