Does anybody know if any of the meat/butcher shops in or around Reno offer cold storage?

In October am going to be mule deer hunting in northern California and then continuing on to Idaho for an elk hunt. If I am successful in CA I would like to leave the whole deer hanging in Reno for a week and pick it up on the way home to process myself. (Hopefully with more meat in tow)

I plan to call around but thought I might save myself some with y'all's input.

If anybody has any knowledge or experience your input is appreciated.

If you quarter or debone, I have enough freezer space to store the meat. It wouldn't be a problem for me. Other than that, I don't know of any shops in Reno that will hang meat.

We freeze most of the deboned meat or quarters before we cut them up. Then we take out what we're cutting that day and thaw for a while before we cut and package up. Meat is a lot easier to cut when it's partially frozen. Yeah, I know, it doesn't "age" properly using this method, but the meat is still good in my opinion.

Butcher Boy used to be the go to but I don't think they do that any more. You can also try Butler Meats in Carson City.

Let me know if you want to use my freezer.

Thank you for the offer. I'm going to make some calls and see if I can find a place to hang it. If I can't I'll be in touch.
